70s Style Suedette Dungaree Dress

IMG_7554

It’s 18th September, which means there’s currently two huge style events upon us; Autumn Winter clothing becomes accessible and London Fashion Week SS16 has just started. Not gonna lie, I am pretty darn excited about both – I can’t help but love the colder seasons. I feel like the closer to winter it gets, the more fashionable and powerful I become. Everyone feels that way, right? So today I’m styling up a super affordable outfit from Boohoo – the Suedette Dungaree Dress – in celebration of the latest trends sweeping the catwalks at London Fashion week; suede and 70’s!

Apologies if this post seems a little Outfit of the Day picture heavy, but I was really loving how autumnal these photos looked. As lovely as it is to wear a summer dress and be done with it, there are so many more interesting ways you can style up an outfit for Autumn. Think of the layers! The aztec trim black cape from Boohoo* I am wearing in this look is a really great example of a simple AW15 accessory; it’s dead easy to pop on top of any outfit to keep you warm AND look chic. Bonus points for snuggliness, too!

However the main item I am loving in this look is the suedette dungaree dress – if there is one thing that’s popping up in fashion shops like nothing before for this season, it’s the pinny dress! These really take me back to childhood, as I can remember my mum dressing me in them as a kid – and looks like I’ve not outgrown them as I am clearly still wearing them now! Popping on one of these is just a really lovely way of adding a little something extra to an outfit, instead of opting for trousers or a skirt. This suedette dunagree dress* in particular In fact, there’s a whole host of affordable dresses on the Boohoo website available for London Fashion Week styling.

Suede (or suedette, if you want to be animal friendly!) is a really lovely material for autumn and winter – it’s snuggly, warm and comfortable whilst adding a different type of texture to your outfit. You may not ordinarily pair a suedette dress with a suedette shirt, but I couldn’t resist. This suedette oversized blouse also from Boohoo* is all my autumn fashion fantasies rolled into one. I am sure you will see me styling it up with a pair of jeans and jacket soon, but honestly, I really love the colour of it and it’s so comfortable. I want it in every colour!

I also want to just touch on my accessories – added a little neck tie to my shirt to compliment the 70s trend and also added a really sweet bird and leaf delicate necklace from Nowseen* to compliment the autumny/foresty look! Finally, I complimented my half up/half down hair do with a pair of dangly earrings and then added the finishing touch; a new season Timex Silver Chronograph Watch. I have more photos of the necklace and watch coming up in an Autumn Accessories edit, but I couldn’t resist wearing them. Aren’t they the cherry on top of the cake?

Aw thank you, Sonam – really glad you liked it. There’s something about it that just reminds me of getting dressed as a kid! x

Love the way that cape drapes just so – the only thing I find annoying is it’s really difficult to get a bag to go over my shoulder!

Thank you, Helen! And honestly I have to agree that bags are a pain to carry with Capes – it’s a crook-of-the-elbow situation the whole way with them! :)
