Fit February is upon us and although I do try and keep a balanced diet for the most time, there’s no harm in treating yourself once in a while! To try and get a good balance I headed over to Wagamama Media City to have some tasty food but also try out their new limited edition fresh fruit juice menu at the same time. A little bit of noodle, a little bit of fruit… Not much wrong with that, right?
Wagamama Media City is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of it all, looked over by the huge new ITV and BBC buildings. Although it was a classic rainy Salford day, it was warm and bright inside and impeccably clean – something I always look out for! It’s also the ideal location if you fancy exploring the Lowry Shopping Outlet or are after a pre Lowry Theatre dinner.
Although the Wagamama fresh juices run all year round, they are running a limited edition Positive Juice until the end of February – a drink which is created fresh especially for each order. The Positive Juice has been created by Michael Townsend Williams as a serotonin-boosting juice to help Brits beat the January Blues, and is made from a tasty blend of pineapple, apple, lime, spinach and cucumber. There are also other eight different flavour combinations to choose from and are all full of fruits and veggies to give a Fit February health kick. My guest and I each chose a fruity combination to kick start our dinner. I went for the Fruit Juice (classic name!) which includes apple, orange and passion fruit. On the menu, it looks pinky with a green top but my actual juice looked more like a classic orange juice – however I could definitely taste the passionfruit in it. Yummy!
If you don’t fancy a fresh juice, there’s always a speciality beer to try. However, there is so much choice with the juices and another one I would recommend is the Blueberry Spice Juice. This contains blueberry, apple, carrot and ginger. Tasting like a spicy smoothie, this was my favourite of the two. It was delicious and full of antioxidants perfect for banishing off a cold in this grim Manchester weather.
For the meal, my guest went for a Chicken Catsu Curry, which is arguably one of Wagamama’s most famous dishes. Covered in crispy panko breadcrumbs and served with sticky rice, this is a aromatic curry sauce served with a side salad. My guest said this was absolutely delicious and that they would definitely have this again. From the looks of it this is one of the most popular options on the menu as it looked like a lot of other customers were having this, too.
I went for a teppanyaki dish, a Yaki Soba. This was a plate of soft noodles stir fried with selected vegetables. I’m a big fan of noodles and washing this down with a fruit juice was a lovely treat on a rainy day. The atmosphere at Wagamama Media City was great – bright and friendly and the food was served really quickly. It was a fun experience I would definitely go back next time I was looking for a meal in Media City.

I love Wagamamas and it’s one of the places easier to eat at now I’m dairy-free. Their ramen is really nice and those fruit juices sound so interesting.
