Hey kittens, today’s Wednesday Wish List is in fact, two wish lists, both part of Debenhams #lovedenim campaign. Debenhams have challenged me to create two menswear looks – a gig night and a date night – based my top denim picks from their men’s collection. Exciting! I’m pretty sure all the other bloggers have chosen separate denim pieces for each of their looks, however, y’all know I like to do things a little differently…
I have purposefully chosen to use the same jeans (LOVE these denims, for sure!) and shirt in both mood boards to show how easily the same outfit can be dressed up and down for different works, simply by changing up accessories. I mean, why wouldn’t you want to invest in some basic staple items when so many different looks can be created from essentially the same pieces of clothing? Plus, a night where I can squeeze in a rock gig and a pizza dinner with a swarvely dressed man piece is pretty much the way to my heart.
For my gig night look, I’ve chosen a pretty casual set up, perfectly for jumping up and down in the mosh pitt if you really wanna get involved, or just standing at the back of the show with a plastic beaker of beer taking in the atmosphere. Aside from my staple jeans and checked shirt (perfect gig attire) I’ve also included a pair of Converse. I usually prefer white Converse but they would get far too grubby at the Manchester Apollo, so kaki to match the undertones in the shirt is what I’ve gone for! For accessories, I’ve included some quirky monochrome union jack cufflinks – to add a little bit of my signature style into the look – and a trendy backpack to wack in the change of clothes for the night’s dinner…
After the gig, I’d be getting a bit peckish so for a man to whisk me away to a quirky Italian restaurant for a slice of pizza (or two, or three, or four…) and so in the same way I’d be adding a slick of red lipstick and changing my dolly shoes to heels, my guy could also switch up his accessories. Instead of casual canvas shoes, he could pop on these smart brogue boots, swap a casual jacket for a blazer and pick up the maroon colours in the blazer with these darker red accessories; a bow tie and pocket square add a quirky yet formal edge to a casual check shirt.
So kittens, which of these looks do you prefer? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
