The Poppy Ring

Hey kittens, hope you’re all okay. If you remember my recent blog post about Fashion for a Cause, you’ll have read that I was so grateful to be able to use my blogging contacts to donate some wonderful prizes for a wonderful cause, St Ann’s Hospice. And, as today marks Manchester’s first ever Poppy Day, I just wanted to make a quick blog post about Remeberance Day, which is fast approaching on the 11th.

Right from the start, my family brought me up to be a supporter of the The British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. For as far back as I can remember, I can recall my Momma giving me my pound coin to take into school and buy a poppy . Then another, when the first got lost. Then trying to pin it onto my coat with a safety pin so it wouldn’t escape. Then getting another for when it inevitable fell off or got scrumpled up on the playground anyway… I digress. I don’t usually post personal things on my blog, but I’ve not missed a Remeberance Day service yet and its a day that’s close to mine and my family’s heart.

This year, as Manchester’s first Poppy Day takes place this afternoon, I’ll be taking my support up a level from the obligatory paper poppy pin and wearing this fab bling ring as well. Jon Richard, one of my favourite jewellery stores, have teamed up with The Royal British Legion (the UK’s leading Service charity providing support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families) to sell this beautiful accessory. Available here, the ring costs £12 of which £3.60 be donated to the charity, so you can wear this fashion statement, rest assured that you are contributing towards a fantastic cause.
