We all know what Red Nose Day is coming up on this Friday 24th March, but we might not all know much about the charity it’s in celebration of: Comic Relief. Comic Relief is a British charity founded by comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry in 1985 and aims to make people laugh in order to raise money for charity, whilst at the same time tackling really serious issues. It was initially founded in response to the famine in Ethiopia in 1985 and now helps charities across the UK and Africa concentrating on trying to eliminate social injustice and poverty. We all know that Red Nose Day is famous for it’s comical – wait for it – red noses(!) but they also like to collaborate on a whole range of merchandise to raise money for Comic Relief, and this year they’re doing it for the pet lovers. Say hello to this year’s TK Maxx Red Nose Day Rankin T-Shirts for Comic Relief 2017.
This year, TK Maxx have collaborated with world famous British fashion photographer Rankin to create a range of fun animal designs especially for pet lovers (I mean, who isn’t?!). The collection consists of nine different quirky animal design t-shirts and homeware, with at least £5 from the sale of the adult T-shirts being donated to Comic Relief. Not only are the designs super fun, but the T-Shirts are also made from African fairtrade cotton, meaning the farmers who sourced the materials get a fair wage for their work.
I paired this outfit with a pair of ripped jeans – some old favourites – and my trusty Rocket Dog tassle boots; because if we are talking dogs then Rocket Dog have got to feature, right?
So, which Red Nose Day T-shirt did I go for from TK Maxx? The Comic Relief White Unisex Albert T-Shirt of course! This design features a black and white photograph of an adorable flat-faced pup (not dissimilar to my baby Sonny the pug!) with some suitable pops of red included. The fairtrade cotton used in this is super soft and comfortable, plus, by wearing this you can let everyone know that not only are you a pet lover like me, you’re also raising money for a worthy cause.
Happy Red Nose Day 2017!
