Today clicks of London Fashion Week September 2017 for the Spring Summer 2018 season. Although I’m not heading to LFW myself this season (too busy working hard in the office, dontcha know), I have attended London Fashion Week and Fashion Scout many times before.
From multiple seasons attending fashion week, I’ve come to know what works in terms of an outfit choice, and what doesn’t. I mean, the floral statement suit I wore a few seasons ago truly made an impact, but was it comfortable? Absolutely not. And although fashion week looks glamorous, let me tell you, long days walking the cobbles of Somerset House, sitting front row on stiff benches at runways and standing, waiting around for hours on end requires something a little tamer.
So, from my experience, I’m going to be sharing with you what I would be wearing this season; a practical London Fashion Week outfit. It might not get me in the photographer’s street style shots, but it’s comfortable, and most important, makes me feel like ‘me’ and not a dressed up doll, which is truly what is important.
These days, I feel I’m getting a lot more ‘sensible’ with my fashion choices. Some might call it old age (how rude!) but I reckon it’s just about getting to know what suits you, what you love and what you feel yourself in. If I were to attend London Fashion Week this week, I’d go for something like this outfit; all black everything with a statement piece, like this oriental style red kimono. It’s simple, easy to pop on and feels comfortable all day long.
Speaking of comfort, shoes are important and despite how amazing and glamorous these sock boots from Public Desire look, they are a dream to walk in. In fact, they’re like wearing slippers! Their velvet material is bang on trend ready for the transitional Autumn to Winter weather we’re experiencing right now. The statement heels is also gorgeous, I just can’t get enough!
Overall, my advice if you’re travelling to any Fashion Week events is to listen to your body – obviously it’s all about fashion (of course!) but it’s about feeling yourself too, and to be honest, at 26 I’m already over ‘no pain, no gain’, and I’m into wearing something that feels like me.
