Why Dogs Make The Best Pets

I don’t know what my life would be like without Sonny. I know I had a life before him, but it just doesn’t feel as though it was complete now that he’s in my life. I completely adore him, and probably spoil him way more than I should, but I wouldn’t change our relationship for the world.

To all of you sceptics out there though, who are dubious of dogs and just how awesome they are, I thought I’d put together this quick post on exactly what makes them such incredible animals to have as companions.

They’re always happy to see you

No matter what has happened to you during the day – from an angry argument with a friend to your red-hot coffee being thrown all over you in the morning – I dare you to come home to your dog and not feel instantly better. They will always greet you with the biggest grin on their face, even if they don’t know you! I met some beautiful puppies for sale in Lancashire recently, and it was as though I was their long-lost human mother from the way they greeted me. I never get tired of that feeling.

There’s a breed for everyone

There are hundreds of dog breeds, and that means hundreds of temperaments, natures and personalities to go around millions of potential owners. If you’re an energetic sporty type that wants a dog to go running with, you’ll find the Red Setter makes the perfect match for you, able to keep up with the most athletic of owners. Prefer to stick to the sofa with a good book after an evening stroll? Your faithful Golden Retriever will stay right by your side. No matter who you are, I guarantee the perfect dog is just around the corner.

They make you more active

The sheer need to take them for a walk should be enough to get you up and out of the house. When my pug Sonne looks at me all excited at the thought of going outside, who could possibly say no to that face? Just look at it as burning off all the calories you’re going to eat in chocolate when you get home, as a treat for doing such a good workout. In all seriousness though, I genuinely feel like a more active person since making sure Sonne has a good routine.

They don’t judge you

What I love about dogs the most is that they don’t judge you in the slightest. If you’re upset about an argument and the way you handled it, they will always be on your side. Dogs have a real knack for seeing only the best in people, so it’s not surprising we develop such deep emotional bonds with them. They become like a part of our family, and they’ll be there for you through thick and thin, in and out of relationships with people.
