White Tulle Tutu Dress for Ladies’ Day

Race season is here and it’s time to get our party frocks out! This time of summer is always the perfect time for getting out our occassionwear dresses, and although I’m not going to Royal Ascot myself, I’m up for any excuse to put my best heels on. So, here I am, looking (well, feeling) like a Princess in my white tulle tutu dress – an occassionwear dress suitable for even the Royal Box.

If you’re going to the races yourself, it can always be hard to choose what to wear, especially on Ladies Day when the fashion police are out in full force! Some key things to remember are so avoid too much cleavage (for which this long sleeved dress is perfect) and try and have the hemline of your skirt at around knee length. It might sound boring but this dress from Jones and Jones shows that you don’t need to be dull when dressing modest.

White dresses are a no no for other summer occasions – like weddings, where they are more than just frowned upon! – but whites, creams and neutrals owe themselves well to a day at the races. If you’re not usually a pastel person, accessorize the look up with some bright accessories like me. Hats, fascinators and hair accessories are a must at the races and so I went for this floral crown to add a bit of ‘umph’ to my top half.

For shoes, I popped on a pair of fun heels to bring an extra bit of colour pop to the outfit. Heels really are a must at the races – they might not be practical but they will win you brownie points with the race regulars, and instantly dress up any outfit you have picked out.
