Babe Power. Boss Bitch. Girl Gang. They’re all words to describe a post-modern feminist movement in which women are joining forces and celebrating confidence, no matter what anyone thinks! Missguided is a company that has become famous for it’s mantra of sticking two fingers up at society and encouraging babe power, which is convenient, because that’s exactly what it’s first fragrance is named!
The other week, Manchester celebrities, press, bloggers and little ole’ me were invited along to celebrate Missguided’s debut fragrance launch. Hosted at Menagerie – a name that will ring a bell if you live in Manchester – it’s a bar and restaurant filled with incredible décor, but which has become famous in the area for dividing opinion. A suitable location for Missguided with their ‘no F’s given’ attitude!
On the night, we were greeted with pink champagne and candyfloss cocktails, a table of pink pic’n’mix and shop style dispensers for us to try the Babe Power perfume ourselves. The décor was stunning and definitely a highlight for me; the perfume bottles were hanging from the ceiling, stacked high and even in a ball-pit style bath for us to bathe in if we so wished!
Missguided’s Babe Power Perfume is designed to create an atmosphere of “strength, confidence and femininity” and does so through notes of grapefruit zest, orange blossom, vanilla and candy floss. I guess that’s where the candy floss cocktails come in! This is certainly a young, sweet and fresh scent; all words which I would use to describe a Missguided customer. It costs £28 for 80ml and is available at Missguided, The Fragrance Shop, The Perfume Shop, Superdrug and Boots.
Babe Power was certainly the theme of the night, with local Manchester celebrities in attendance such as Corronation Street Stars who were out in full force to meet the crowd of paparazzi outside. Niki Sanderson, Cath Tyldesley and Katie McGlynn were just some of the celebs to come and celebrate the launch.
