I love a good excuse to get dressed up. A meal? Yeah. Drinks? Yeah. But there’s only so many meals or drinks you can have without everything feeling a little too same-y (or your jeans starting to feel a little tighter, am I right?). Recently, I’ve been making a conscious effort to make occasions a little more different, and a little more special. One thing I’ve never done before is visit the Opera. Musicals and theatre, yes, but Opera no. There’s something that just seems so magical and classical about attending a special night out there, and that’s what got me thinking as to how I might dress for a timeless event such as the Opera….
For a classy night, you need a classy look! I think midi skirts will always be timeless; they’re graceful, ‘ladylike’ and pretty flattering as well. I paired mine with some monochrome breton stripes and a faux fur gilet to bring out some texture. Finishing the look with some black accessories, I made sure things were kept sophisticated and stylish. So, I’m all dressed up and nowhere to go!
Known for excellent Opera shows in London, the English National Opera would be the perfect place to strut my stuff in this outfit. The London Colisseum has been the home of English National Opera since 1904 (even more reason for a timeless outfit!) and is a beautiful building with grand arches and over two thousand seats. With a whole variety of interesting shows taking place at this cultural hub over the next few months, shows such as The Mikado and The Force of Destiny would make a lovely date night, and the perfect excuse for me to put some wear into this Stripy Top and Midi Skirt outfit. So, who’s coming with me?
