Hey kittens, we’re halfway through the
week, which means we’re officially on the good side of the week – it’s only a
couple of days until the weekend! As its Wednesday today, Thursday tomorrow
(and Thursday night is the new Friday night), I’m starting to plan my weekend
out. Now, I’ve done loads of women’s party wish list inspiration posts, but
what are men meant to wear for a proper good night out?
I would hate to say its easy for us ladies
to get dressed up for a night out – Lord knows I take enough time getting ready
– but if we have a favourite LBD and a go-to pair of heels, we know we’re along
the right tracks. For men? It’s a little different.
Often, it’s a little harder for men to
stick to formal dress codes whilst still looking fashionable, especially as SO
many clubs have dress codes now. Dress codes are simply a part of our lives,
just about every club in Manchester has some kind of required dress, whether it
is stated or not! Sometimes these dress codes are for safety purposes (come on,
who are they kidding?!) but most of the time they’re there to create an optimal
environment for all. Not sure what I mean? Take a casino, for instance. When
visiting these venues, certain clothing is required for men to get past the
bouncers. Therefore, knowing what to wear for an evening out at the casino is
pretty
important when preparing to head out for the night.
Men want to avoid wearing overly
casual clothes – a mix of smart/casual is usually okay. This means that men can
pull off wearing a casual item, like a checked shirt (one of my personal
favs on men), so long as the other garments are a bit dressier. Dress pants
are ideal for wearing out to a casino, however cords and skinny jeans can
also work well if paired with a buttoned up shirt or blazer. In fact, some
casinos do require their male customers to wear jackets in the evening, but I
would always recommend this anyway. Love a good tweed blazer on a man! Make
sure to check with the casino or club about this
possible requirement, but
obviously, you need to avoid wearing items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and
hoodies. They are big no, no’s! You may see players at events like the
World Poker Tour wearing them, however,
they really are not appropriate
for wearing outand are definitely NOT chic! Finally, when it comes to shoes, brogues or
loafers are ideal. Avoid
trainers and canvas shoes – I don’t love these at the
best of times and they’re never a good idea to wear for a night out. Make
sure he puts in a lil’ bit of effort instead!
I have to admit, I don't know too much about menswear. I'm pleased you've included a plaid shirt! as they're my favourite on men as well. Love the brogues!
