Sonny’s Diamond: Heart in Diamond UK’s Memorial Pet Diamonds

As you may remember from my original blog post about Heart In Diamond UK, I recently combined two of a girls best friends – diamonds and their pets – together by ordering a bespoke memorial diamond for Sonny. Created from a combination of Sonny’s fur and my hair (both when malting and falling out naturally), this stunning diamond will be with me forever. Find out more about the ordering and selection process here, but now, around 70 days later, my beautiful diamond is here and ready to be unboxed.

The diamond creation process takes around 70 – 120 days to create a memorial diamond from scratch, growing the gem stone from the fur, hair or cremains provided to Heart in Diamond. Throughout the process, you receive an email every step of the way where you are updated on the lab’s progress with unique details on the next steps and estimated time it will take – a fabulous service that reassures you that whatever special item you have provided is being taken care of. At the end of this time, you will receive a specially tracked delivery safe and sound to your doorstep with beautiful gift packaging for your diamond nestled safely inside.

Once it arrives, the Heart in Diamond parcel is sealed securely and signed for at a specified time to leave you sound of mind that your special diamond will arrive safely. Inside, there comes a beautiful gift bag with your diamond certificate and a booklet all about the process with the personal details of your diamond on. I love the amount of info provided by Heart in Diamond UK, which has been echoed throughout the whole ordering process, including weekly updates from my personal customer service adviser, Anita, who has checked in regularly on the phone and text to let me know how my order is doing. It’s part of the reason this company is so special and sensitive to each case.

Now, onto the main event – how the diamond arrives. With attention to detail running throughout the whole Heart in Diamond ordering process, it is no surprise that the diamond comes presented beautifully in a gorgeous black presentation box. With a black patent box and white cushioning to present the diamond on, it is a gorgeous keepsake and the perfect way to have the diamond presented. Inside the box, is a beautiful metal presentation setting to keep the diamond in to treasure forever.

And finally… The diamond. As you would expect, the diamond is absolutely stunning. So beautiful and the perfect celebration of Sonny. Complete with a genuine diamond Authenticity Certificate, this beautiful precious stone is grown especially from Sonny and I’s hair in the same way (albeit a lot quicker in lab conditions!) as how natural diamonds are made. I Every Heart In Diamond equal to or bigger than 0.25 carat can be accompanied by an independent gemological certificate provided by the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Diamonds are available in red, orange-yellow, green-yellow, blue and white but I wasn’t sure what to go for so I left it up to Heart in Diamond to advise for me… And I couldn’t be happier! They chose a beautiful orange-yellow that perfect represents the colour of Sonny and the colour of his fur, and it is just absolutely perfect.

Memorial diamonds are of course perfect for commemorate a pet’s – or person’s – life by using some of their ashes after they have passed, but for me, Sonny, my pug, is my whole world and so celebrating him – whilst he is still here for many years to come – by making this diamond together has been a beautiful and moving experience that I can’t thank Heart in Diamond UK enough for. This is something I will cherish forever.
