This week’s item is this beautiful asymmetric maxi skirt. The waterfall sillouhette is SO Autumn/Winter 2012 and the sewn in mini skirt means this sheer mesh skirt is made so much easier to wear. Its hard to tell from the picture, but its made from the most beautiful dark grey material with gold sparkles throughout – so festive! Its the perfect Christmas party item and I’m already wearing it to death. Although the mini skirt is a little daring, the waterfall drape makes it so flattering, as well as covering a little of my modesty at the back! Everyone’s a winner!
You could dress this item in so many ways as although its quite a statement piece, its colour makes it totally wearable. I decided to juxtapose its soft and floaty fabric with harsh studs (y’all know I am loving studs this year, check out just a couple of my stud outfits here and here).
Spikes and studs instantly give any outfit an edgy feel and I love the way they look with the festive glitter and sparkle of this beautiful skirt. The almost holographic sparkles in the skirt also help to blend in the silver spikes of my heel-less high heels and gold collar studs, making it easy to mix and match gold and silver. Therefore, I was able to pair this gold studded MissPap shirt, my amazing spiked Prodigy Red nightwalk shoes and this cute yet edgy triangle collar necklace by Lily King. I love mixing cute handmade jewellery with edgy outfits as I think it really adds character to the outfit.
And, of course, it is December so this sheer shirt would have been a little chilly on its own. Thankfully, I had my Selfish by Forever Unique faux fur jacket on hand to inject glamour (and warmth) into the look. It also added yet more textures into this fierce black and metallic look.
So, what do you think? How would you style this skirt? Do you like the mix of gold and silver? Festive yet still edgy? Let me know, kittens, Momma Kitty loves to know!
