Midi skirts are definitely having their moment right now, and I am all for it! A flattering length for pretty much every body shape, the midi length helps to elongate the legs by showing just the calves and ankles (which are usually the slimmest part of the legs) and their high waist band helps to skim over any lumps and bumps around the hips. For curvy girls especially, they’re a great wardrobe staple – although admittedly perhaps if you’re wanting to try out a midi skirt as a long term wardrobe investment, a red leopard print midi skirt may not be the wisest choice… But it is fun! And it was a steal at £8 in the New Look sale. Paired with a graphic sweatshirt it makes for a cheeky look.
Of course, midi skirts can be dressed up with a pair of heels or down with a pair of your favourite kicks. I feel like the length of them helps to make them look smart even if the rest of your outfit is relatively casual, which is why I am loving wearing mine with my Gola Classics Grandslam Leather Trainers. These are the ultimate smart-casual trainers and I can’t stop wearing them! Being all-white-everywhere, they just go with absolutely anything and I am not ashamed to say they’re my new daily work shoe; comfortable enough to commute in and smart enough to get away with that bright white trainer look under a suit. Winner.
