Adidas Originals x Urban Outfitters

Hey kittens! How’s everyone doing so far this week? Aside from my very exciting news about being shortlisted as Best New Fashion Blog in the #CosmoBlogAwards, I think it’s about time we had a little natter and I caught you up with what I’ve been up to lately – and what better way to do so than to tell y’all about another event I went to recently?

The other week I was invited to an Adidas Originals event at Urban Outfitters. Now, I was somewhat dubious about this. Y’all know I’m not a trainer wearer, I don’t do sports luxe and I’ve never featured fitness-chic brands aside from my Fitness Fashion post which was purely about what I wear to the gym. To be totally honest, I’ve never worn Adidas before, ever. Ever.

However, the Urban Outfitters half of it intrigued me. After recently being bought over by Sports Direct recently, I could see the logic behind putting these two brands together. Plus, Urban Outfitters have been one of my favourite high street brands for a while. So, I thought, why not go and see what they’ve got round the corner for us all? So I did.

When I arrived, I was surprised to see that it wasn’t a blogger event, or even a press event. To the best of my knowledge, I was the only blogger there and that was a little out of the ordinary. However, it was packed full of consumers and customers at the store. Different, not bad, although I did feel like I stuck out a little when taking snaps!

The event was a printing workshop to demonstrate the print screen process that Adidas use when making their Adidas Original offshoot brand. Although I’d heard of this before, I’d never had any interest before in checking out the items, so I was surprised to see a few that I liked. Aside from the predicable tracksuits and trainers, Adidas Originals also had some cute retro bomber jackets and shirts. I was impressed!

In the the spirit of the event, I tried my own paws at the print screening process. The lovely people from a Californian based print screening company – the ones that print for Adidas Originals and many more – talked me through the process and let me get my hands down and dirty. I was able to choose two patterns to print and two colours, using stencils to drag fabric paint into the gaps and create my own unique pattern.

The end result was this lovely sunset-esque print with the same flame emblems that Adidas use themselves. Unfortunately we were only able to print on posters, which I think is a shame. I fear my poster will get lost in the bits and bobs in my room and thrown out eventually, whereas if we’d been able to make our own T-Shirts, I’d have worn mine with pride!

So kittens, what do you think of my print? Are you a fan of Adidas Originals? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
If you enjoy reading my blog, please do take the time to vote for me as Best New Fashion Blog (category 4) in the Cosmo Blog Awards 2013 – I’d really appreciate any help you could give me!
