Autumn Eating In with M&S Food in Spinningfields, Manchester

With a change of seasons always comes a change of trends – fashion, mostly – but food is no exception. To warm us up during these cold winter months, M&S Food have brought out a seasonal selection of new fresh food for Autumn and Winter 2017. The launch of their new Autumn Food collection as part of their Taste range just so happened to coincide with the opening of the brand new M&S Food store in Spinningfields, Manchester, and so to celebrate, I popped down to Spinningfields to collect some of my favourites from the new M&S Autumn Food Collection.

Firstly, pizza. Always a favourite of mine, M&S’s Wood Fired Pizza is no exception! My favourite of the range is the M&S Wood Fired Mozzarella Di Bufala and Rocket Pesto Pizza. A pleasant take on the usual margarita pizza, this pizza was flavoursome and did indeed taste woodfired (even though it was cooked up in less than ten minutes in my own, very non-wood fired oven).

To wash down the pizza, a wine is always preferable. From the M&S Autumn Food Collection there is the GSM Grenache Syrah Mourvedre. The GSM Grenache Syrah Mourvedre is a smooth Shiraz, perfect for a night in. It’s packed with succulent black cherry and blackberry flavours so goes well with most foods – I like to have a glass whilst cooking, whilst eating and then for dessert. Who says you have to share, right?

As a career lady who don’t need no man (and works damn long hours!) sometimes you just need a ready meal to go in the oven and not have to think about it. No shame here! For me, one of my favourites is the Roasted Aubergine, Tomato and Mozzarella Bake from the M&S Gastro Pub range. As a fresh ready meal, it doesn’t feel too naughty and could even pass for some homecooked food (if I ever had time to whip this up myself, that is!). It’s a super easy meal to cook up and delicious to eat.

Finally, sometimes we all need something sweet and one of my favourites from the M&S Autumn Food Collection is their Millionaire’s Shortbread Dessert. Chocolatey and creamy, mousse-y and crumbly, it’s a delicious sensation of flavours and contains everything you need to finish your at-home autumn dinner in style.
