A Beauty Blogger can never go on holiday without her Beach Beauty Essentials. Heck, I can even pack my makeup light for my holidays but how can I survive the humidity and the heat of a beachside holiday without my top skincare, haircare and bodycare favourites? And not only are they favourites, but they’re specifically picked to tame that frizz, protect that skin and get you buff for your hollibobs.

So, on to the specifics as part of my Beach Beauty Essentials routine, and why I champion each of these products in particular…
First thing’s first – for every beach, poolside and summer holiday, you always gotta take your SPF! Suncream is so important, with Skincare Experts advising on daily SPF use on your skin as UVB and UVA rays can penetrate even when inside (yes, even in rainy Manchester!) but on your holiday this is especially important.
This holiday I have been loving using SHISEIDO EXPERT SUN LOTION PLUS SPF50+. Not only is this a high factor, which mean’s the sun’s rays have to work extra hard for more time to get through to your skin – always helpful when you’re a pale baby – but it’s water resistant too, which means like me you can have a dip in the pool or sea while you wear it. As Shiseido are skincare experts, you can also trust that this won’t break you out. In fact, it is especially formulate to care for sensitive skin, and I can honestly say this is the most beautiful feeling sunscreen I have ever used – it glides on like silk and lasts all day, all over your body.
Of course, you are welcome to use the same sunscreen on your face as on your body, but as I do have very sensitive skin I like to pop on something specially formulated that I know won’t give me any blemishes. This holiday, I’ve been trying out the brand new ELIZABETH ARDEN PREVAGE CITY SMART SPF50, and have been so impressed I’ve worn it every day! Although this includes such a highly protective level of SPF, it doesn’t at all feel or smell like you’re wearing sunscreen (which is a huge selling point for me) and also contains a light tint to it to help even out skin tone. I’ve worn this baby every single day for two weeks and now can’t imagine not wearing it every day… Better get saving for my next bottle!
Now, as a curly gurly, looking after my locks in the sun is always a priority. I always make sure to take a specialist sulphate free curly hair shampoo and conditioner with me on my holidays to make sure I wash out any salty sea water or chlorine, but it’s also important to protect your hair during your time on the beach, too. So, say hello to my new holiday hair Holy Grail, TIGI BED HEAD BEACH FREAK. This helps to moisturise and detangle hair, but I also like to use it to control frizz and as a pre-style/re-style prep product before I add any other curly hair serums to my hair.
Two other beach beauty essentials I couldn’t go on holiday without are a lip balm and facial spritz. It’s so important to keep your lips moisturised in the sun to prevent them getting chapped, and there are even lip balms with SPF in especially for this. This holiday I’ve been using the BEE GOOD VANILLA AND HONEY LIP BALM, which is super hydrating and goes on like silk. Similarly, facial sprays help to keep your face hydrating throughout the day and often contain added benefits such as anti-aging ingredients and natural oils, but for the most part I rely on them on holiday as a cool-down spritz. This holiday I’ve been using BLOSSOM AND BLOOM FACIAL SPRITZ, which is suitable for all skin types to use, even pregnant ladies… Not that I have to worry about that!
Incidentally, both of these items are from my August 2016 Lookfantastic Beauty Box, the #LFBESTOFBRITISH BEAUTY BOX. This month’s box contains items all made in Britain to celebrate everything British as we cheer on Team GB in the Olympics. It was pretty handy it arrived just before my holiday as it contains six handy travel sized items perfect for popping my overnight bag.
Finally, not really an on-the-beach beauty essential but more pre-holiday routine, I do like to add a layer or two of fake tan to give me a slight bronze covering before I hit the beach. As much as I embrace being pale, everyone like a little holiday glow and the VITA LIBERATA PHENOMENAL 2-3 WEEK TAN gives me just that. I tend to pop on two or three applications of this (leaving 1 day between each and making sure to shower before each application) before I go to the beach and whilst I will never be a tanned Goddess, it does help to hide a multitude of sins in a bikini! At the moment this is the only tan I will use as I have tried it, tested it, and know it will never leave me streaky or orange.
So, there we have it: my top 6 beach beauty essentials that I simply cannot go on holiday without. What items do you love to pop in your suitcase, or what’s your beach ready routine? Leave me a comment below and let me know, I would love to hear any more beach beauty tips!
