Black White Denim is a premium ladieswear Boutique in Wilmslow and online, which (quite obviously) stocks designers and brands in black, white and denim – duh! Founder and MD, Jo Davies, built the concept on the belief that an outfit can be created for any woman of any age, any size and for any occasion by sticking to these three fundamental building blocks of a successful woman’s wardrobe. I like that!
As y’all can see in my video, Black White Denim, invited guests, to one of two Salon Shows staged throughout the day on the 14th March 2013. I chose to attend in the evening as, of course, I was working. But I like that we had the option!
The event was pretty small, casual and, some might say, intimate. In true fashionista style, I expected a runway to line the centre of the shop with chairs either side. However, the arrangement was far more casual. Instead, we all stood around the sides of the shop floor whilst models showed nine looks from the Spring Summer collections. Models included Finnish actress and new Cheshire resident, Jenni Banerjee and local fabulous mums, Carrie and Catherine whose hair was styled by new stylists, Matt and Jess, of Harper & Quinn Hairdressing, Wilmslow. Whilst demonstrating the different looks, owner Jo Davies talked the audience through them, which was a nice personal touch and very appropriate for an intimate and local boutique.
Among the brands and Designers showcased was 5PREVIEW, a new brand to Black White Denim for SS13. The collection comprises graphic print tees, tanks and tops in exquisite Italian cotton, perfect for the summer months. Denham, also new to Black White Denim, was also presented – I have my beedy eyes on some of their collection! The superb cuts, easy fits and quintessentially Dutch aesthetic was a winner among guests with lines selling out by 1pm. BWD favourites like Paige Denim, 2ND DAY, By Malene Birger and Theory also featured, all styled to compliment a woman’s real style and daily dressing needs – if a little expensive!
The boutique also offered Beachwear Pop-Up Shop, in conjunction with BikiniBeachStar.com, offered up some irresistible summery delights from the likes of Emamo, PilyQ and Beach Bunny for guests looking to update their holiday wardrobe. Well, we can’t be wearing bikinis in this British weather, can we?
Instead of the usual champagne on offer, we were provided with cute mini cupcakes and cocktails – yum! Black White Denim also partnered with Revolution Wilmslow, with a pop-up bar serving specially concocted cocktails whilst Pricilla Queen of the Desserts supplied the gorgeous miniature cupcakes.
As a finishing touch, we all received a lovely goodie bag – which is always a nice bonus! Inside we received a £50 voucher to use before the end of March (unfortunately I missed out on using mine, boo!) and a high quality branded umbrella in it’s very own metal holder. A surprising gift but SO appropriate for Manchester and I really liked the practical touch – I’ve already started using mine. Apparently some guests received some Clarins samples in association with next-door Wilmslow based department store, Hoopers, but unfortunately I missed out on those!
Over all, it was a lovely chilled out evening. The whole event was perfectly tailored to a small and intimate boutique on a local Cheshire high street. As much as I love the high street, I personally also love independent boutiques and the service they provide. I wish Black White Denim the best of luck and, unless I have huge self control, I might be visiting again to grab some fab patterned shirts as seen in my video. Enjoy!
