Spoiler alert: I’ve found THE place for Bottomless Brunch in Manchester. On Saturday I visited Albatross & Arnold (which coincidentally I wasn’t aware of before) with my two best pals Michele and Russ to try out their bottomless brunch offering… And let me tell you, this is hands down the best bottomless brunch we have ever tried. And if there’s one thing we are known for in our friendship circle, it’s for knowing where to go for bottomless drinks!
Albatross & Arnold is located within The Range, in Spinningfields’ Left Bank in the business area of Manchester just before you cross over into Salford. The Range in Spinningfields is a members’ club which acts as an indoor golf club with five state of the art Foresight simulators. Golfing isn’t really my thing, but I can totally imagine the business men of Spinningfields loving this venue. You can choose to play over 80 of the world’s top golf courses, all while eating and drinking at Albatross & Arnold during your visit.
Albatross & Arnold itself is an Instagram interiors account’s dream! An intimate, independently-owned restaurant with only 40 covers, the experienced team offer a personal touch with exceptionally high service levels – we were served by Sam who was the perfect host and could not do enough for us. Funny, welcoming, professional and personal; truly I would go out of my way to visit Albatross & Arnold for Sam alone. Michele, Russ and I even invited him out with us for a drink after his shift, but needless to see he was the total professional and politely declined our rather tipsy offer… Well, it was bottomless brunch!
The bottomless brunch itself at Albatross & Arnold is a pretty good deal, for £40 per person you get a two hour slot to choose two dishes from the brunch menu, and as many drinks from a generous set list as you can manage. Unlimited drinks include prosecco, mimosa, bottled beer, bloody Mary, Gin and Tonic and Rose wine. Challenge accepted!
The brunch menu is uncomplicated, yet laden with seasonal and well sourced ingredients celebrating the best of British flavours, and with the option of sharing plates you can enjoy a bit of everything. As you can see, everything is presented beautifully and even the standard of cutlery is stunning. We all commented on how beautiful and unusual the art deco style champagne glasses were!
As bottomless brunch includes the option to choose two dishes from the menu each, Sam was super flexible about being able to recommend his favourite dishes and adjust the timings of the food to make sure we were all eating together. For instance, we were able to either eat everything at once – like tapas – or essentially have a ‘starter’ and ‘main course’ type set up. The latter is what we went for and it worked really well.
The food was all delicious and the presentation was second to none! We tried a selection of savoury and sweet dishes, typically having the savoury first (as a ‘main) and the sweet as our dessert. We went for dishes such as avocado on sourdough, salt beef bagel, halloumi rostie and meat platter. Then for the sweet dishes of French Toast and chocolate, and buttermilk pancakes with blueberries which were to die for.
Our experience at Albatross & Arnold we decided to stay on afterwards and have some cocktails at the bar. We felt totally welcome and at home, and as the size of the restaurant is so intimate it almost felt like we were having our own private party. We stayed for hours and couldn’t have had a better time. The hospitality was incredible, food delicious and drinks free flowing. 10/10 on every level. Maybe even an 11!
Bottomless brunch is available Saturdays between 12pm – 6pm, which I think is great timing. Many brunches are only offered in the morning to lunch time, so having the option of having a late lunch or early dinner for ‘brunch’ is really great and personally worked very well for us when we visited as we managed to blend it into a night out. That’s when you know bottomless brunch is good… When brunch turns into dinner!
