Bottomless Brunch at The Refinery, Spinningfields Manchester

Bottomless Brunch is a phenomenon that’s taken London by storm – the idea of having cocktails (*gasp*) with breakfast and, legend has it, carrying unlimited cocktails (*gasp*) through to lunch. Yep, that’s right – a leisurely brunch meal with unlimited cocktails of a certain choice. Sounds pretty good right? But why should we let Southerners have all the fun?! Thankfully, Manchester now has it’s very own answer to the hottest eating out trend right now: Bottomless Brunch at The Refinery, Spinningfields Manchester.

The Refinery Spinningfields by Drake & Morgan is a relatively new city centre haunt and located in such a high end, business-focused area of the city is occupied by a rather classy clientele – one can only assume that’s why they invited me along(!) to try out their brunch menu. Located near Leftbank, the décor is breath-taking. As you enter, you are greeted with rows upon rows of glowing candles in candelabras, beautiful copper and industrial furniture mixed with a plethora of different soft furnishings including faux fur and retro-inspired prints. Honestly, it’s gorgeous and I want to borrow their interior designer for my own home fo’sho.

Now, drinks time! I must admit I had a rather heavy night the night before and so opted for a non-alcoholic option, but as regular readers of my blog know, I am rarely one to turn down a cocktail treat and so I can’t wait to return to try out the Bottomless Brunch menu to it’s full capability. On this occasion, I opted for the ‘5 a day’ smoothie (£4.50) from the breakfast menu to set me right – and that it did! This smoothie contained mint, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, greek yoghurt and apple juice, making it the perfect way to start the day alongside a good ole’ cuppa tea.

Both Jonathan and I opted for the Full English breakfast (£9.95 each) and were blown away by both the portion and the quality. Trust me, this is not your average Full English! Forgot your average fry up, this comes with eggs any style, bacon, sausage, black pudding, baked beans,  field mushroom & grilled tomato – although I admit I am fussy and when I was requested to swap and change I was totally indulged without a problem. I mean, it’s making my mouth water right now!

The staff at The Refinery, Spinningfields Manchester were also outstanding. I had some of the best service I have ever had in Manchester and this, paired with the stunning décor, relaxed atmosphere and absolutely delicious food has got me rating The Refinery Spinningfields by Drake & Morgan as one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester, well, ever. And I promise you this is not because I was treated to a meal – I am always fair and so unfortunately I am not always so complimentary – but if you are looking for a special occasion dinner I can highly recommend this place. I am already planning to return to the The Refinery to try out their dinner menu very soon.
