Checked Shirt and Skinny Jeans

As soon as Winter comes around, it’s all fair play in the checked shirt stakes. There’s something about the colder months that makes me just want to pop on a Checked Shirt and Skinny Jeans – I’m not sure if it’s the warm, dark colours or the easy and comfort of just wacking on an oversized shirt and pulling on your fav skinnies, but either way I am so okay with this. Popping on a pair of flat chelsea boots easily makes the look daytime friendly, especially if they co-ordinate with the colours of the outfit, like this…

I’m not sure if you can see properly in these photos, but my jeans are actually a khaki colour – a bit different but subtle enough not to stand out too much. I really love how they pick out the dark greens in this shirt. There’s just something I find really festive about dark reds, and greens… Come to think of it, it might be because they remind me a bit of a Christmas tree. But I don’t look like a Christmas tree here, do I? Do I? Haha!

This oversized checked shirt is so comfortable and a real wardrobe favourite for when I’m having a bit of a lazy day. It’s from TopShop last year and washes really well (check me out being all practical) yet is so soft and easy to wear. The longline length of it is right up my street, too; I can’t take to checked shirts that are cropped or finish at the hips – they tend to make me prone to a muffin top look which ain’t ever flattering. Instead, I can wack this on over a pair of skinnies and be ready to go!
