How To Decorate Your Student Room

img_1183It’s the end of September and back to uni time. Thinking back to when I was a student (it wasn’t that long ago, promise!) there are a few things I would have changed about my experience; mostly being my student digs! Hey, my grubby little house share did it’s job and was a lot of fun, but living there for a few years I could have made the most of the space a little more. Injected a bit more personality and embraced the student room life on a student budget… This is where Flying Tiger Preston comes in.

Tiger is without a doubt a stand out accessories shop for me. Although sadly there isn’t one in Manchester (yet!) there is one just down the road in Preston and they have tons of unique and quirky home accessories to vamp up your student home. Heck, I’m definitely not a student anymore but whenever I am in the area I make sure to pop in and grab a few bargains. Everything is so unusual and the price tag is just a bonus!

For today’s Flying Tiger Haul, I’m bringing you some of my top accessories for making over a student room with minimal fuss. On the top of the list is fairy lights! Not only do these add an extra source of light to a typically dingy student room, they are a sure way to add colour and brightness to any home. These multi-coloured basket style fairy lights will only set you back £6 from Tiger are beautiful and will go in almost any bedroom; hang them around your bed frame, a mirror or around your window for an instant glow.

As an extra pop of colour, start thinking about integrating bright primary colours into your room. Although you might not be able to fully decorate or paint your walls, you can add block colours into a room through simple accessories such as photoframes. This cute green one is an absolute bargain at just £2! Tiger do a range of colours with quirky prints included – feel free to keep these in for a fun illustrated vibe, or replace them with pics of your family and friends from your hometown to stop you feeling lonely.

When I was a student I was always running late and looking back, I could have done with a big bright clock to keep me on time! I absolutely love this strawberry clock from Tiger, priced at £4. It’s such a statement and placed on a plain white wall will add some instant playful vibes to the room. Plus, you certainly won’t miss this when you’re in a rush!

Finally, don’t forget your notebook during freshers week! We all know that the first few weeks back at uni are all about the nights out (we’ve all been there!) but be sure to squeeze in some learning too. I mean, that’s what you’re meant to be at uni for, right? I get all my notebooks from Tiger and this beautiful leather effect teal notebook at just £2 is my latest edition. The perfect way to brighten up your room – and your lectures – on a bargain budget.
