How do you get yourself a “beach body”. Have a body: tick. Take it to the beach: double tick. My body might not look like the bodies on Love Island, but it’s my body and it’s on a beach and I’m okay with it.
It’s no secret that I’ve always struggled with weight. Over eating, under eating, not eating at all. Now I’m in my late 20s I feel more confident in myself than ever but some days my body issues get the better of me. In general, I’m learning to embrace my beach body. Some days are better than others, but pass my a glass of champagne, a killer cossie and pair of shades and I’ll do my damn best. Like they say, sometimes if you act like you’re confident then sometimes you’ll end up feeling it.
This body has cellulite, stretch marks and scars. This body wobbled when it moves, has rolls when I sit down and has thighs that rub together. But this body is also strong and soft at the same time. It carries me to work every day enough for me to smash my career and be head of marketing at 28. It has enough strength to deadlift my own body weight. It’s soft enough to cuddle my friends and wrap them up with love. It does it’s best for me even when I’ve not done my best for it.
Learning to embrace my beach body is a journey, not a destination, but if I’m lucky enough to go on holiday I’m going to damn well get on the sand and enjoy it. Life is too short. So this is my beach body and you can like it or lump it.
