Hey kittens! Hope you’re all good and have had a lovely start to February so far (white rabbits). As my first post of this month, I thought I’d start a new feature for 2014 and make a monthly roundup series to keep y’all up-to-date with the goings-on in my life. As my 2013 Blog Round Up blog post was so popular, I thought it would be cool to start getting a little more per-son-allllll, Instagram pics and all.
Okay, so January 2014 has been a pretty busy month for me. After I originally thought it was going to be pretty quiet – hey, no one’s got any money after Christmas and it’s a whole 11 months ‘til the next festive season – it turned out to be pretty cool after all.
Firstly, I’m gonna work backwards and make for an announcement that technically creeps into February (hey, it’s only JUST February, right?). At midnight last night, the shortlist for the first UK Blog Awards was announced and I am delighted to say that I made the shortlisted for the Best Fashion & Retail Blog category. I’m 1st listed out of the top 10 narrowed down to Phase 2: The Expert Judging Stage from over 900 entries, before the winner is announced on the 25th April. Whatever happens now, I’m happy! Thank you so much for all your support, again, I love you all so much!
Another highlight of the month had to be my interview with The Fashion Network probably the largest fashion networking site in the UK – appropriately named, hey? – when they questioned me on the ins and outs of fashion blogging and my favourite trends. Having worked with the site in the very early stages of my blog, it was an absolute pleasure to revisit them 18 months on.
In January, I was also humbled to be House of Fraser’s official blogger, contributing one blog post a week to their official website. My first blog post, New Year’s Fashion Resolutions, was published right after Christmas and proved to be quite popular. Heck, everyone needs some money saving tips to get them through the January sales, dontcha?
In addition, Fresh Laces London and Country Attire both asked me to be an official blogger for both of their (separate) events coming up in the near future. I love when event holders get in touch and ask you to get on board in the weeks up to an event – you know its gonna be a good one – so I’m really looking forward to both of those in the near future. Similarly, I continued to work as a featured person on the new Line Up app in Manchester. Definitely check it out if you haven’t already.
My top blogging highlights also included getting back into Youtube with my 2013 Fashion Favourites roundup video and continuing to publish regular posts, including one of my most popular outfit posts yet; showing off a Manchester landmark no less! I’m also so pleased to have been asked to take part in Boohoo’s #OwnIt campaign – y’all can see how I styled my Boohoo shirt-dress in my next blog post later this week.
Finally, on a more personal level, I attended some great motivational meetings with my friends at The Radisson Blu Edwardian and met with the lovely people at Fashion Union to discuss some exciting upcoming projects. My lips are sealed at the moment, but all will be revealed soon enough.
