Here it is: my first fashion post since my recent bereavement. It’s been a month but honestly, I still feel like I’m not quite into my normal routine. I’ve not had any time off work – that just seems to keep my body and brain working like clockwork no matter how little I’ve slept, how much I’ve been fretting – and for that I am grateful. Outfit of the day blog posts, however, have felt a little daunting as I am well aware I’m not feeling – let alone looking – my best right now. So, please be gentle with me with this one.
In fact, this outfit is pretty much what I have been living in outside of work; my ‘ comfies’! Lounge suits have been my saviour, usually with a pair of trainers and my hair scraped back, but this weekend I took the opportunity to get a little more glammed up and accessorise it with some gold statement jewellery pieces and some classic black court heels. This is testament to how powerful choosing the right accessories really is – it can take you from chilling around the house to ready for a night out in just a pair of shoes and jewellery!
Speaking of jewellery, how stunning is this chunky gold ring? It’s called the Infinity Ring and had a stunning clean, almost Scandi-inspired design is subtle yet still makes a statement with its vertical infinity ridges and thick band. Handcrafted using ethical gold vermeil, it’s ridges mean that it catches the light from every angle. The perfect ring-finger alternative to an engagement ring if you’re a proud, strong independent woman like me!
Based in the USA, this is from the cult jewellery brand AU-Rate. They are a fine jewellery company that sell a whole host of high quality, sustainable jewellery made with ethical gold and diamonds. With a focus on classic, clean design, you can rest safe in your purchase knowing that their items are totally ethically sourced – a huge weight off my shoulders when buying jewellery nowadays.
To smarten up the lounge suit, I added a black double breasted blazer that I picked up in the sale from River Island this time last year and continues to do me proud for every occasion! Paired with this statement black and gold headband that I found at a thrifty market stall, these two items help to coincide the gold metal colouring together with my ring to really bring the whole look together.
I think Sonny, my pug, appreciates the colour co-ordination too, don’t you think?
This brown and black checked lounge set is by super affordable fast fashion brand, Femme Luxe Finery. Sure, it won’t last forever, but for right now (when most days I kinda want to snuggle up to Sonny and stay inside) it is absolutely perfect and will do it’s job well. At around only £20, it really is a billy bargain and can’t be faulted for it’s ability to look just as good when relaxing on the sofa with a glass of wine at night, to taking me to the bar for a night out with my pals, just like it was here.
In fact, aside from being crazily comfortable, I actually really enjoy the fit of it. With slightly cropped tapered jogging pants and an almost cropped, boxy top, I think the sillouhete of this outfit would be flattering on most shapes and sizes.
Alongside my beautiful baby pug boy, the finishing touches to any smart-casual look have to be a classic pair of black court heels. These ones I’m wearing (yet again!) are from Paradox and they continue to look like much more affordable dupes to the outrageously spendy Manolo Blahnik heels. Again, the touch of bling on the toe really proves how the little details matter when dressing up a look from day-to-night.
And there you have it – how I dress up my lounge suit with some higher end acessories to really add glam to an otherwise cute and comfortable look.
What do you wear when you want to feel snug but smart at the same time? Leave me a comment down below and let me know. I’d love to hear from you!

What a stylish way to accessorize your lounge outfit! I never would have thought of the headband :) I have a pair of black comfortable pants that I always wear around the house, but they also look good with a tank top and heels when going out.
Gold jewelry adds an extra bit of elegance to any outfit… love this idea :)
I love the jewlry and your stylish outfit, they look just amazing together ! Those accesorries make you look stunning :))
