Hair Cut and Curly Blow Dry at David Rozman Hair Salon, Manchester

The other weekend I had my first ever curly blow dry. Yes, really! A beauty blogger through and through yet I’d never indulged in one of the hottest hair trends this decade; the ‘curly blow‘. Having always had tight, ringlet curls and after struggling to embrace them as a child and learning how to handle them as a teenager to being loud and proud about them in my 20’s, I had always been hesitant.

A combination through fear of heat damaging my hair, reluctance to try something new and, actually, a secret feeling of betrayal that I would straighten out my curly locks stopped me from trying it. That was until I decided to take the plunge the other week, during my Hair Cut and Curly Blow Dry at David Rozman Hair Salon, Manchester.

David Rozman Hair Salon is located on Queen Street, right in the city centre of Manchester. It’s just between the town hall and Spinningfields, so you can’t miss it. I was greeted by David (the man himself!) and Jayson who looked after me for the day. David and Jayson consulted me on my hair and made recommendations for me – for instance, I usually have layers cut in my hair tot make it look full, but they were bold enough to suggest getting rid of the layers altogether by chopping my hair to the same length, ekk! However I felt safe in there hands and after a relaxing hair wash, we decided to go for it.

With David’s advice – and I loved the personal touch – Jayson made me feel at ease and straightened out the length of my hair, ensuring the longest layers were chopped to the same length as the mid ones. Thankfully, they were sure not to loose too much length and I appreciate their advice on changing up my hair do a little; something I wouldn’t have done myself but feel much better for now.

After the chop, Jayson asked how I would like to have my hair dried. “Erm, like I always do?!” I said, but he was keen to convince me to try something new. I have to stress that I didn’t feel pressured at all (as you can sometimes  feel the need to please in hair and beauty salons!) but with his reassurance I went for my first ever blow dry… And I can’t imagine I will look back now.

Using Alterna Caviar products – which I am told are some of the best hair care products for blow dry styling – Jayson set to work at blowing out and curling my hair again at the ends using a barrel brush. He was truly and expert at work and the result was like nothing I have ever seen on my hair before. I’ve straightened it before and hated it – flat hair just isn’t ‘me’ – but this was a perfect combination of something different whilst still giving myself some curl. I loved it.

Jayson said my hair would last for 4 days and that it did, with a little brush or two in between. It’s not a hair style I’ll have all the time – or indeed could easily recreate myself – as its important to note that my curls still make me feel like myself. But, like a smokey eye or a subtle fake tan, it’s something outside of my comfort zone that’s good to experiment with every so often, and that’s exactly what I will do in the future…
