Hey kittens, happy bank holiday. It’s lovely to have a little more time to yourselves isn’t it? And what better way to relax and chillax – oh yeah, I went there – than with to devour a little fashion news? And this instalment comes with a healthy side serving of tasty men too. Yum!
As y’all know, I’ve become a little more than obsessed with Harvey Nichols (posh, eh?) in Manchester since attending their Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Show. Since then, I’ve sampled their Beauty Events, tried some Benefit make-up at their counters and even attended a Style ETC fashion magazine launch. However, this is the first time I was invited to a specialist menswear launch and with the offering of some high society models on show, it would be rude not to attend!
As y’all know, I’m all about the heritage brands and British retails and Harvey Nics lives up to all my true desire. Harvey Nichols was founded in 1831 as the first fashion lifestyle boutique – the first! Today it represents the ultimate fashion experience, renowned both in the UK and internationally for its edited selection of brands across fashion, beauty, fragrance, lifestyle and food. Yep – especially, fashion!
Last week, Harvey Nichols Manchester, in collaboration with London Collections: Men, presented an evening showcase of exceptional British Menswear design talent at 2022NQ in the cultural heart of the Northern Quarter. 2022NQ is an up-and-coming Mancunian hotspot which I’ve already attended for a number of fashion events. Think back to Daisy Street’s Christmas Range Launch and Get The Label’s Urban Party to name a few.
Hosted by Harvey Nichols Fashion Director, Paula Reed and Head of Menswear, Darren Skey, designers Casely-Hayford, James Long, Katie Eary, Lou Dalton, Mr Hare and Bernstock Speirs were all in attendance, with a featured collection from Christopher Shannon on display. The exclusive tour presented the exceptional collections from the need-to-know designers now to the masses outside of the London fashion scene. And hey, who said that Southerners get to have all the fun?
Personally, I’m a huge advocate of Mancunian brands and local designers – for latest blog posts on Mancunian fashion news check out Paige Denim Visits Manchester, Elvis Jesus Fragrance Launch and Adidas Originals x Urban Outfitters Print Workshop – however, it’s also nice to see collections from further afield sometimes, too. Darren Skey, Head of Menswear, said that “Harvey Nichols has long been an advocate of London Collection brands and currently holds a portfolio greater than all of our competitors.” Well, you can’t argue with that, can you?
So kittens, what do you reckon of the new London Collection – is it for you, or would you rather me tell y’all about the latest womeswear collections instead? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, like my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
