For me, feeling safe in my own home is super important. As I live on my own, its important to feel secure and not have to worry. Of course, making sure my garden is secure is just as important as it is of course an extension of my home.
Making sure your garden is safe, secure and private will not only help put your mind at rest when you’re relaxing in the house, but will give you a little slice of outdoor sanctuary for when you decide to use the space outside too.
So, if you read on, you can learn some tips and tricks for making your garden a safer and more secure place.
Outdoor Furniture and Play Equipment
A big consideration for garden space is what furniture you have in it. By very nature, it’s going to be outside, which means that you need consider how you store it – or leave it out. If you have kids, you might have outdoor toys and equipment outside. This could be a swing set, a sandpit, or even a small blow-up pool (the latter might be best for the summer!).
With equipment like this, you need to make sure it is well-screwed in. Not only will this help your kids be more safe when using them – children are often falling over; you need to ensure they fall onto soft spaces, not hard, potentially damaging places – but it will prevent them getting stolen.
Storage
A garden shed is a great idea if you don’t have the option of screwing down your outdoor furnishings. There are all sorts of things you may want to store in the shed, if not overnight, then over the winter at least. From BBQs, to deck chairs, to plant pots and even outdoor games such as things like fabric snakes and ladders that can be played outside.
Feeling Snug and Safe
After a long day in the office, having a drink outside on the patio is a wonderful way to unwind. This is where outdoor furniture comes in.
You might already have some outdoor furniture. But, if you want to feel more snug and safe while relaxing, you want to prioritise soft furnishings. So if you already have outdoor furniture that isn’t so comfy, why not put some pillows and blankets out to make your furniture softer. Plus, you can use blankets if anyone gets cold.
Safety Measures and Fencing
There are plenty of ways you can make your garden a relaxing space, but at the end of the day, you also need to make it a safe space.
Having fencing is essential to not only keep your garden space safe inside, but keep the outside world out too.
