Although Spring is just around the corner, it’s still not quite time to let go of our outerwear just yet. Instead, duster and waterfall coats are the perfect lightweight alternative to a chunky cardigan and are a great way to transition into the sunnier months instead of wearing your big winter coats all year long. Today, I’m styling up a khaki duster coat which has barely left my back this season since I snapped it up from Boohoo as a New-In bargain. It’s a great way to keep warm whilst also looking stylist enough for Spring. I’m in!
This khaki duster coat will go with most colours but I like to mix it with other warm-toned shades to ensure it looks colourful enough for Spring, but not pale enough for me to look out of place wearing a coat on sunny days! In this outfit I paired it with a maroon faux fur stole I got a couple of years ago as a bargain from Dorothy Perkins – although it’s faux fur, the bright colour of it makes the scarf suitable enough to wear for Spring and wearing it as a collar instantly upgrades this coat from cheap to chic!
For Spring, I also like to try out different textures and my big tassle boots always make a come-back on sunny days. Again, these tassled boots mean my legs still stay warm but the fringe detail gives a nod to the fashions of Spring and Summer, meaning I don’t feel too out of place. Paired with a quilted bag from my handbag favourites, Marc B, this is a super affordable outfit for Spring and shows there are some hacks to upgrade a duster coat for this season.
