Hiya kittens! Last week I received a very special invite to a luxury Bridal event. Now, dont worry – there’s not something I’m not telling you… No, seriously, I’m not getting married (for many years, at least!) but what kitten doesn’t love looking at wedding dresses?
The event was held last Thursday at Piccadilly Place in Manchester, in conjunction with Green and Benz and Country Brides Magazine. As I was welcomed to the venue, I was given a yummy glass of Pimms and a Country Brides Magazine to flick through as I took my seat on the frow (that’s the front row, for y’all not down with the lingo!)…
The location was pretty unusual – it was basically an empty warehouse building within a huge office block complex. A funny choice for a Bridal Event, but it was interesting to see such luxurious items within such urban surroundings; a clever juxtaposition. We were also serenaded by a professional wedding singer (quite literally) – very appropriate! The evening was compared by Manchester stylist-to-the stars Martine Alexander, who did a brilliant job at keeping everyone entertained when the fashion show was running late.
As I waited for the show to start, I flicked through my Country Brides magazine (which I lovingly gave to one of my good friends who is set to be a bride next year) and a special gold envelope full of tid-bits of advertisements and business cards. However, one leaflet did contain a free engagement photoshop – well, I just gotta get someone to propose to me now, haven’t I?
The event was very select, with tickets costing £25 to the general public. Although the night was held to celebrate Caroline Castigliano’s new Heritage collection – who I am told is a legend in the Bridal world – I still think this price is pretty steep for a fashion show. Heck, if I was saving up for a wedding, I’d be wanting to save my last £25 to get my nails done before the day, but as the emphasis was on “luxury” I guess this is how the price was justified. Above are the event’s special guests Helen (Green + Benz) in the centre, with Lesley from Lace Bridal (left) and designer Caroline Castigliano (right). Celebrity of the night was BBC News presenter Rachel Hodges (below), a Bride-to-Be herself who confirmed on the night that she will be wearing a Castigliano creation for her own big day!
Now, onto the collection! Although not an expert in Bridal fashion or wedding chic, what gal doesn’t enjoy looking at pretty dresses? Caroline Castigliano‘s new Heritage collection showed modern yet vintage inspired gowns, ranging from 1950’s-esque shorter dresses to classic lace garments. All dresses were accessorised with Green + Benz jewellery to create a sophisticated and expensive look, with the first half of the show concentrating on wedding dresses and the second championing the wedding-guest look with evening gowns. Over all, the collection was beautiful and it let me daydream about the future a little more! I loved the lace detail, fitted sillouhettes and lush fabrics used in both the bridal and evening gowns. If you’re in the market for a wedding (lucky ladies!) then I would highly recommend checking out Caroline Castigliano and Green + Benz for a little inspiration. In fact, I’m eyeing up some Green + Benz jewellery to get my paws on soon!
