After my first review on Makeup Revolution’s make-up collection (well duh!) I’ve been pretty impressed with the range of items on sale. Having mentioned my new favourite eyeshadow palette as the Makeup Revolution Iconic Eyeshadow palette in my Autumn Favourite YouTube Video and named Makeup Revolution’s Lipstick in shade Rebel With Cause in my I Love Fall Tag, it’s been pretty obvious how much I’ve been loving their cosmetics. So, I was pretty intriguied to give their skincare a try too…
The first item I tried from the Makeup Revolution skincare range was the Anti Bacterial Face Wash*. This is a pretty large bottle with two pumps, which are pressed down together to mix a green liquid with a foaming white one (lovely description there). This bottle holds 100ml of product and retails at £10, which in real life terms is a reasonable price, but for Makeup Revolution I find it pretty pricey. Heck, maybe I’m spoilt with my one quid lipstick from them, but I reckon this is overpriced for what it is. It also doesn’t help that this doesn’t agree with my skin. Disclaimer: I have notoriously sensitive skin, but this product is far too harsh for it. I would say it would probably be best for those who struggle with acne – and so perhaps my opinion isn’t the fairest – but I have to be honest, and I wouldn’t recommend this face wash.
The second skincare product I tried was the Makeup Revolution Defence Anti Bacterial Serum and Primer*. I was intrigued to try this, as I would usually say a primer is part of a cosmetics set, rather than skincare, so I wanted to see how this differs. I have to say, this primer is far different to the silicone based primers I am used to, such as the Benefit Porefessional Primer or the ELF Mineral Infused Primer. This is more of a cream that sinks into the skin. This product does sit nicely on the skin, but I don’t feel as though it helps my makeup to last longer – it kinda just feels like putting another moisturiser on. I will say that at the least I like to think it creates a barrier between my skin and makeup, which I hope would prevent the clogging up of my pores. I will use this item until it runs out, but I won’t be repurchasing this item, especially for a tenner.
So kittens, although I had rave reviews of my Makeup Revolution makeup, I am left feeling disappointed by their skincare range. I personally think that with skincare, you have to pay for good quality ingredients and this fundamentally goes against Makeup Revolution’s ethos of cheap and cheerful. Therefore, I would recommend them to stick to what they know – makeup. It’s in the name!

It's such a shame neither of these turned out to be very good for you! I don't really like foam face washes, I think they're more suited to teenage skin!
