The Malmaison Manchester is a true celebrity hot spot. You’ve heard me say it before and I’ll say it again; it’s city centre location, luxury boutique décor and friendly staff mean it’s the perfect place for celeb-spotting and every time I visit I see another (remember my post about Jessica Wright’s event there?). Anyway, although I usually visit their quirky bar for a floral G&T, this time I went for my first three course meal at their restaurant; the Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison Manchester.
Located on the ground floor just to the left of reception and behind their bar (which is always nicely bustling), the Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison Manchester is beautifully decorated. It’s simple, sophisticated and spotlessly clean with a handful of attentive and friendly staff to welcome you in. Although it is certainly high end, the atmosphere is very relaxed and we spent a couple of hours there enjoying our bottle of wine.
The Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison Manchester Summer 2017 A La Carte menu is really refreshing; it is selective but there is a great mix of different cuisines on there, from the classic steak dishes to seafood to curries. In fact, it was hard to choose just three courses! For our starters, I went for the Cauliflower Velouté, a thick creamy sauce complete with a handmade pickled cauliflower and onion frita, which was lovely and unlike anything I’ve ever had before. Jonathan went for his all time favourite starter, the Chez Mal Buffalo wings (£8), which were as messy as they always are but this time accompanied by a very sophisticated finger bowel and lemon!
For our main meals, we chose completely different options. Jonathan went for the Fillet steak (£28) with a side of pomme frites and mushrooms, which were recommended to him by our lovely waitress. He was really impressed with it and it was cooked rare just how he likes it! I was even more impressed with my main course, I went for the Tortelloni of tomato, rocket and mozzarella (£13.5), which was without a doubt the best Tortelloni I have ever had! Served with beef tomato, balsamic dressing and fresh basil shoots, it was so flavoursome, filling and tasty – I could eat it again right now!
Although I have to confess we were a little full for a dessert each, we couldn’t resist sharing one off the Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison Manchester sweet menu. We went for the Chez Mal hot chocolate (£6.50), which included mint choc chip ice cream, marshmallow, cocoa nib tuile and Valrhona hot chocolate sauce to pour over the top. A wonderful finish to a delicious meal!
Over all, we had an amazing time at the Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison Manchester. We both agreed we would love to return again soon and praised the restaurant for it’s sophisticated yet subtly relaxed atmosphere, with attentive staff and absolutely delicious food!
