Merry Christmas, kittens! As it is Christmas day, and I wanted to conclude my #Blogmas series in a climax of festivity, I thought I would bring you a collection of photographs I took this week on my travels. Nothing hard-hitting, not trying to sell you anything – just good, Christmassy, innocent fun. Enjoy.
Everyone loves a good Christmas lights display (even more so influenced by our American friends as of these past few years), and I am not exception. Therefore, when I heard about a local road in Manchester that had joined forces to create an impressive display of lights in their own gardens, I hopped in my car and went to find it for myself.
Warwick Drive, Hazel Grove is a little drive away from where I live but totally worth it (especially as a midnight pyjama party drive out with my favourite girls – so fun!). It’s a little cul-de-sac of roads that have all joined together to make the most of the festive season and decorate their houses. Now, some homes haven’t taken part – bah humbug! – but the rest look pretty darn cool. Cool as in tacky-on-purpose. There were quite a few cars driving up and down slowly and families wrapped up in coats and santa hats taking little ones to look around; a bit like a toned down version of Blackpool illuminations. Worth a visit!
This has apparently been a tradition of the street for a number of years, but this year the road has decided to collect donations for charity at house no.60. The money will be donated to three local charities, and at the time of writing this, over £1,500 had been raised. It’s a really lovely idea and well worth a couple of quid to look around – if you are looking for something to do on boxing day, have a drive out and walk your Christmas dinners off by walking around here. Or, for all you international readers, simply enjoy my favourite picks of the decorations on display here – it was quite a challenge taking photos in the dark/rain/wind/in my pyjamas, but totally worth it.
