Autumn is well and truly here, and with Winter on its way I am delighted to have collaborated with Marks & Spencer Manchester to style up a new outfit from their AW’18 collection and also give YOU the chance to win £100 to spend in M&S Manchester.
I visited the store at Manchester Exchange, right in the centre of town and just at the end of Market Street in the main shopping district, to look around the new in pieces. Marks & Spencer’s Autumn Winter 18 collections are every bit as classic and high quality as you would expect, but also with a whole host of style centred around three different main collections: The Foundation Edit (wardrobe essentials); Poetic (feminine colours and prints); and Sartorial (classic shapes and tailoring).
I also noticed in store Marks & Spencer’s takes on a huge range of on-trend items, but putting a classic twist on them of course. Where the high street is flooded with animal print, M&S take on this trend with sophisticated midi style, muted tones with a nod to leopard print. Where red tartan is big in other stores, Marks & Spencer share their versions of this through navy blue tartan print trousers and hot pink tartan skirts.
As well as on-trend items, Marks & Spencer’s in Manchester also have all the wardrobe staples that you would expect from this national treasure! With a huge range of essentials including turtle necks, knitwear, blazers, trousers and of course, Winter coats, the M&S AW’18 collection contains all the building blocks you need for the the modern wardrobe.
To help me choose my staple every day outfit for Autumn Winter 18, I visited the Fit Style Studio in the M&S Manchester store. It’s a personal styling that is free to use and set aside in a lovely private changing room away from the main shop floor. I was served by the wonderful Mea who personally selected a range of New In items for me to try on that she thought would fit my style, including statement teal boots, silky textured midi skirts and fluffy knitwear – and of course, snake and leopard print!
After having looked around the store, I ordered my favourite items online using click & collect. It was super easy to use, and for me is proper convenient to order from my desk at work ready to pick up on my lunch break the next day – which is exactly what I did! In fact, Marks & Spencer allow you to order by 10pm and collect your order from a store the next day with free delivery for click & collect orders.
I decided to go for a super classic Autumn Winter look to take me though from October all the way to the start of March. You can’t go wrong with a trench coat and I am totally in love with this Marks & Spencer beige trench coat. A beige or camel coloured trench coat is truly a staple item that will last you for years and never go out of fashion, and at £99 I reckon this is a very reasonable price for such a high quality item – plus, I have to say it looks a lot like the British designer it is probably inspired by! With a hood and Stormwear technology, the coat is also totally waterproof which was an absolute must-have for living in Manchester and ever since I got it I have been wearing it daily for my commute to work. The perfect Winter coat.
For the rest of my outfit, I chose some wardrobe staples, such as a black wool roll neck jumper (very affordable at less than £30) and these incredible leather-look leggings which come in at less than £20! Both of these items look fab together but of course can be styled infinitely as separates with any combination of trouser/skirt and shirt/blouse/knitwear combination throughout the whole of Winter. True Winter wonders.
Oh, and we couldn’t not mention these block heel faux fur sandals, right? I have literally had people stop me on the street and compliment me on these heels. They may be less wardrobe staples and more statement pieces, but I thought they were just so great to be able to show what a wide range of items Marks & Spencer have in stock right now. They are truly one of my favourite stores out there right now and these just show they are killing the Christmas party vibe just as much as the essentials market, too.
