I hate to say it already as I KNOW it’s only september, but you have to admit that it’s nearing that time of year – Christmas Party season! One dead giveaway that it’s getting closer to this sequiny festive time is the amount of make-up gift sets that are making their way into shops right now. Think glitter, sparkles, glitter and all the smokey eyes you could ask for! Which is why today I am talking about one such affordable gift; MeMeMe Create the Look Collection in Goddess*.
This ‘get the look’ type eye kit from MeMeMe Cosmetics costs £17.50 and includes four items; their Quad Baked Eyeshadow Palette in shade Opulent Eyes, their Dark & Divine mascara in black, their precision liquid eyeliner Eye Sweep in black and their pencil kohl Eyeliner in black.
The first item I want to talk about and probably the main event in the kit for me, is the MeMeMe Cosmetics Quad Baked Eyeshadow Palette in shade Opulent Eyes. This is a compact little eyeshadow palette containing four colours, from brown to purple to red. These are not colours I would usually wear or purchase – they look pretty ‘loud’ in the pan but as soon as you swatch them and start to play with them, they come off a lot more neutral than you first expect.
I actually had a makeover using similar colours from Suqqu a few months ago which I really liked, but the colours used in that palette cost £30! This little quad sells for £6.95 seperately, so to get these colours in a whole set with three other products for £17.50 therefore seems like a bargain to me and it’s given me the perfect excuse to try and recreate the look at home. The pigment isn’t as high as Suqqu (understandably!) but for a quarter of the price I would much rather have this alternative for me to use occasionally when I feel like it, rather than splashing out on a luxury set which would never become a staple item for me.
Next in the set are the MeMeMe Eye Sweep in black and their pencil kohl Eyeliner in black. I really like that this little kit comes with two types of eyeliners. So often gift sets only include kohl eyeliners which, as a liquid eyeliner lover myself, I don’t find that useful. Having both of these mean you can use the Liquid liner eye sweep to create a lovely winged line for your top lid, whilst using the kohl pencil to create that ‘smokey’ waterline look for your lower eye. These items sell for £6.95 and £4 retrospectively.
The finishing touch to any eye look has to be mascara, and MeMeMe haven’t forgotten this by including their Dark Divine Mascara in shade black. This mascara comes with a plastic definer brush, instead of a bristly ‘hair-like’ brush. This helps to provide definition and separate lashes and I do find it prevents clumpiness. This mascara is a deep black, very pigmented sells for £8 individually which I think is a fair price.
Over all, I reckon this is one of my favourite ‘get the look’ style make-up sets I have tried. Aside from the price only being £17.50 for four products (which would cost £25.90 if you purchased all items seperately). Sometimes in gift sets I find that you are palmed off with items that don’t sell well (how many times have you got a blue eyeliner, or a brown lipstick?) but in the MeMeMe Create the Look Collection in Opulent* all the products included are all usable and contribute to getting a finished smokey eye. The set also comes in a variety of different eyeshadow shades – try the Goddess set if you prefer a neutral brown eye for example. Bonus points: none of their products are tested on animals!

I have this quad and if you use the shades wet, they will be much more pigmented x
