As a beauty blogger, I like to think I’m pretty ‘in the know’ with beauty brands and new releases, so when I was asked to try a couple of products by MONU, I was surprised to realise I hadn’t heard of them before. Considering their website tells me they’ve been around for 30 years, I felt like a bad blogger – who were they and what were they like?
When asked what I would like to review, I instantly went for a cleansing balm. 2014 was the year of the hot cloth cleanser for me – I totally stripped back my skincare routine, instead of using all sorts of creams and potions, I now just use a cleanser to remove my makeup and clean my skin, and slap a moisturiser on top. My skin seems to like simple, plain products.
The MONU Cleansing Balm* isn’t plain – it’s luxurious, smells like a spa and had a grainy consistancy. Instantly, I was worried it would be too much for my skin to be used on a daily basis, usually rich products break my skin out, so I air on the side of caution. I started using this cleanser once a week, then twice, and after a month and no breakouts I stepped it up to every single night – and still no breakouts. Massaging it onto my face, it broke down makeup easily and washing it off with a warm, wet cotton flannel removed my makeup like a dream.
I used this pot right down to the bottom and then some! It reminds me of the very expensive and luxurious Eve Lom cleanser. I would repurchase this again in an instant.
Knowing my love of candles, MONU sent me a little trio of Travel Candles*, too. Honestly, the concept of travel candles is lot on me a little bit – they wouldn’t let you through airport security with them! But I loved these little tea-lights. Again, they smelt heavely, like a posh spa, and I thoroughly enjoyed the herbal scent. These would make a lovely little gift, but give me a MONU cleanser over a candle any day – I am sold!

The cleanser sounds really nice. I do love a balm cleanser they leave my skin feeling so smooth & clean. I wouldn't buy a candle to take on my travels either but I'd use them at home
