Empowering women is what I’m all about. In society, there tends to be a rumour of women trying to compete with each other, or a culture of playing women off against each other. However, recently there has been a movement over the past couple of years of women embracing each other and lifting each other up; something which only the most savvy brands have cottoned on to.
One of those such brands, however, is My Protein. The world leader in sports nutrition, it’s a dominating force which has now not only conquered the fitness sphere, is reaching out to women as a whole. Their brand new Active Women range aims to help women help themselves, to become strong, fit and healthy.
To celebrate the Active Women launch, I was invited along to the most luxurious gym and spa in the area, Hale Country Club, on a Friday morning to experience the My Protein lifestyle for myself. It was an early start at 8am, but the invite promised to get us ready for the day with a healthy breakfast and cardio workout to get our blood pumping.
Arriving at Hale Country Club on a beautiful Autumn morning, we were greeted by the super friendly My Protein team (all the laides of which looked incredible in their own MyP workout outfits). We were welcome with coffees, a pre-workout protein shake and pre-work snacks from specialist Cheshire food company, The Raw Artisan. Each of the nibbles from The Raw Artisan were created using ingredients from and included in the new Active Women rage, which was a fun (and delicious) touch.
Whilst we were nibbling away, we were given the chance to network with other bloggers and press. Although most invitees were of course fitness bloggers and nutritionists, there were also a handful of other bloggers (like me!) who write about fashion, beauty and lifestyle as a whole. I was also delighted to see an appearance from Lookfantastic and Mio (a beauty range that specialises in post-workout and relaxation products) at the event. To be honestl, it was nice to see a mixture of people there and that MyProtein see their range as being all-encompassing – although I must admit I did feel a little out of my comfort zone around all these toned, workout-wear clad beautiful ladies.
After enjoying our pre-workout goodies, it was time for the main event – My Protein’s ‘Core Blimey’ abs strength and cardio workout. I’m not gonna lie, I couldn’t quite stretch myself out of my boundaries enough at the event to take part in this, but it was really interesting to watch and I was totally impressed with the dedication from all the ladies. The star of the workout had to be Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson, who is one of My Protein’s celebrity ambassadors and looked every inch the toned fitness princess throughout. Looks at those abs. And heck, she didn’t even break a sweat through her makeup!
After the workout, we were welcomed back downstairs to enjoy more smoothies and nibbles whilst we were treated to an informative class about My Protein from a personal trainer and MyP ambassador. Although you guys know I’m quite honestly not all-into clean eating, I do try and lead a balanced lifestyle (if I have pizza for dinner one day, I’ll try and have salad the next day!). However I did find this talk really interesting, especially as it was tailored around the female body and it’s requirements for special ingredients to balance hormones and cater to our proportions. For instance, the My Protein Active Women range is low fat and low in calories but high in protein and with added dietary fibre to cater to what women need specifically.
The My Protein Active Women Launch at Hale Country Club was not the usual type of event I am used to going to. There was not a cupcake, glass of prosecco or pair of heels in sight. However, there were strong, beautiful, empowered women and a whole lot of fitness enthusiasts knowledge about living a healthy lifestyle. Although I totally admit that I am sure I am not My Protein’s target audience, I left the launch feeling inspired to try out a new kind of lifestyle. And who knows? I might even join the gym next!
