Outfit of the Day: 1960’s Pastel Blue

Faux Fur Coat: Fazane Malik – Chiffon Dress: FD Avenue – Fascinator Headband: Vintage –
Ankle Socks: Ebay – Charm Bracelet: Vivienne Westwood – High Heels: Market Stall

Oh hey there kittens, fancy seeing you here! Do you know what time it is? Well, looking at my watch it’s time for another Youtube video and this one comes in the form of another Outfit of the Day. I’m good to ya, aren’t I?

As I’m sure y’all have guessed from the title, this one is hugely inspired by the 1960’s. For many years (that makes me sound proper old) I’ve been hugely inspired by Wartime Britain and 1940’s vintage items. I’ve experimented with 1950’s “housewife” style, too, and played around with bright colours. However, this Spring I’ve started to really love and appreciate the pastels and shift dress shapes of the 60’s, so I decided to attempt a little take on it for you here. This is another post in my Vintage Outfit of the Day series – for more, check out the rest of my posts here

Now kittens, this Fazane Malik designer coat really is something else. Don’t worry, it’s not real fur, but I’m not sure how I describe it either. As I tried to show in the vide, it isn’t quite faux fur – it is so soft to the touch I’m not sure what it would be classed as. But, I do know this, it is gorgeous and I have been dying to get it into an outfit post to show y’all!

As sad as it is that we (Mancunians) have to wear coats in May (it’s nearly June, for crying out loud!) what better way to wear one than in the perfect Springtime cream? Despite being faux fur, this coat is light enough to wear without getting too hot and bothered whilst still being hugely luxurious and to be honest, I can’t wait to carry it all the way from Spring through to Winer. I mean, in Manchester we don’t get seasons; we just get rain!

Pastel blue really is the classic colour of 1960’s fashion which is why I was instantly drawn to this chiffon dress from FD Avenue. I gotta admit, I’ve had this dress for a while as I was saving it to wear to Manchester Fashion Week as one of my planned outfits. However, due to the postponement of MCRFW (we’ll save that for another story), I couldn’t wait any longer and had to show you as I really do love it so much. Hopefully my outfit planning won’t be ruined as I am dying to wear this out to an event soon!

If there is such thing as the perfect dress for someone, this has to be mine. The colour, the fit, the material; it’s all ideal for me. If they made this dress in every different colour, I’d have them all! The white cuffs and collar are my favourite part, adding the formality that y’all know I live for! The white details also made it especially easy to pick out the perfect retro accessories, such as my vintage fascinator headband and white little ankle socks, whilst my cream shoes tied in to my cream coat.

Over all, I gotta admit I’m pretty proud of this look – it’s not often I’m bold enough to admit I love a look on myself but I think this just suits my personal style through and through. So whatcha think, kittens, is this a look for me? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
