Hey kittens, hope you’re all having a “happy Monday”. (See what I did there?) Anyway, today’s blog post is both a flashback and future planning, with a little bit of designer-esque chic thrown in. It’s got is all going on! This is the outfit that I wore to my second day of London Fashion Week AW14 this February – for more on that, feel free to check out my vlog of my weekend at LFW and Fashion Scout here – and certainly earnt me a lot of street style snaps by photographers at Somerset House!
So, what inspired the outfit? Y’all know I love to be formal and am all over the co-ord trend, so when I spotted this grey toned floral trouser suit on the Little Mistress website I just HAD to get it. Plus, with the new Yves Saint Laurent film coming out at the end of the month, ASOS challenged me to create an outfit based on one of Yves Saint Laurent’s muses from the upcoming film and I couldn’t help but think this resembled a modern take on the masculine tailoring of the 1966 Smoking Jacket (see image here). With a bejewelled collar, my signature wide brim hat and a pair of chunky wedges, I made this #YvesInspired outfit mine!
Finally, with the racing season upon us this spring and the Grand National fast approaching, I couldn’t help but think this would make a perfect Ladies Day outfit. I mean, we all know the traditional “Ladies Day” outfit is a pretty dress and court shoes. But come on, times are changing, and this would be my individual take on the look. I would even be willing to give a nod to Ladies Day tradition by wearing my huge hat!
