Hey kittens, Happy Friday! I’ve decided that I’m going to make my Outfit of the Day posts a weekly occurance. End-of-the-weekly, to be precise! I have so many outfits I want to share with you almost daily that it’s ben taking a bit of time getting a schedule together in my head, but now I am doing a Wednesday Wishlist feature every week, I thought a Friday would be a good time to publish my Outfit posts. Plus, if I can fit in my fashion news and events around those two, then that’s a bonus, right?
Today’s look reminds me of a Vintage Outfit of the Day I styled last year, and is one of my favourite outfits I’ve ever put together. I know, I know, I’ve been saying that a lot recently but whilst I do like to experiment with my own personal take on current trends, I always come back to my own retro-inspired, preppy style; and this dress just screams “Lily Kitten”! In fact, last week at an event for LilyLuLu, a local Manchester clothing company, my fellow blogger friends Katie and Anoushka picked off some collared shift dresses from a display rail and called me over, telling me these were just “SO Lily dresses”. I mean, I think you’ve got your personal style pretty strong if other bloggers are picking out clothes for you. And FYI, they were right; a collar dress with a shift or swing style is totally me.
Although I usually stay away from pastel colours due to being so pale – I usually like to embrace a brighter colour or print – I couldn’t help but fall in love with the dusky pinks and creams of this outfit. The white ankle socks, headband and pearls all create a look reminiscent of the 1960’s and pick up the late afternoon April sunshine. The finishing touch has to be my new favourite flats of all time, these absolutely stunning nudeVivienne Westwood x Melissa Divine ballet flats from Daniel Footwear. I’ve already showed them off in my Spring Flats Footwear Edit, but I’ve been wearing them so much it would be unfair not to show them off again. Aren’t they just dreamy?
Oh is that the real name for a blossom tree?! It's a beautiful tree isn't it? I was so pleased I took the photos when I did as all the blossom has fallen off now – such a shame xx
Aw, thank you! It was a good job I got in there whilst the blossoms were on the trees, as just a couple of days later they all fell off. I was sad to see them go! xx
Such a gorgeous post Lily, love the blossom background and general pink theme! Can't get enough of pastels at the minute but love the more toned down colour of your dress. Hope you had a good time at Lily Lulu it was a lovely event! Alex x
Aw thanks Alex! You're right, my dress is a bit more toned down – more of a dusty pink – then the usual pink pastels and I think it suits my skintone more because of it.
Were you also at the Lily Lulu event? Would have been lovely to meet you xx
Could you look any cuter! Love how spring like and happy your outfit is :) x
