Outfit of the Day – “Pastels & Tie Dye”
Hey, kitten loves!
The British summer is being rather unpredictable – or rather, predictably un-summery (definitely not a real word). One minute is relatively warm, the next its raincoats and wellies weather. Therefore, its pretty hard trying to decide what to wear on a daily basis, especially in Manchester, where rain is often only a cloud away! One way to combat the risky climate is through comprimise; wear summer clothes but always make sure to carry around a handy, portable umbrella to combat those pesky showers. And this is exactly what I did with today’s outfit. It may be questionale how well one can accessorize shorts and a shirt with a cagoule but we shall ignore this for the sake of practicality. Forgive me, fashion Gods.
Anyway, check out the video above for a closer look at my outfit. My shorts are the main event today, which were vintage (AKA old) scruffy jeans I cut and frayed into semi high-waisted shorts, which I then bleached and tie-dyed. I might even add some patches or studs to them in the future!
Because my shorts were patterned, I kept the rest of the outfit fairly simple and neutral, with a cream chiffon blouse to compliment the cream highlights in the tie dye. I love the sheerness of the shirt and especially its pussybow, which is not only on trend for spring/summer 2012 but a classic feature that instantly upgrades any plain shirt.
To jazz up the outfit a bit more, I added floral peep-toe flats, making sure the colours were pastel to compliment the whole look without overloading the patterns. In terms of accessories, I chose a lilac plastic flower ring from Evolution to add some more colour and continue the pale purple theme of the outfit, with a cream flower headband to continue the cream highlights, too. The headband is one of my favourites for spring and summer, as it is very reminisicent of boho festival chic.
