When it’s warm outside and I want it to look like I’ve made an effort (with minimal actual effort), an oversized shirt dress is the way to go. It’s a quick and easy way to throw something on to make yourself look put together, when in reality you only need to add accessories and you’re good to go.
I picked this one up from the dresses selection at House of Fraser and it’s been a life saver this Spring. In fact, wearing shirt dress is so easy that you can pop it on with a pair of sandals and you’re good to go. But, as I like to at least make myself look a little bit smart, I added on some nude heels and a matching wide brim hat to give the impression of sophistication. Hey, we can give the impression even if it’s not right, right?
I tied the whole look together (quite literally!) with a woven belt which I tied into a waist belt. Adding a thin belt to your waist helps to draw attention from any of your larger areas (hello, hips!) and direct the eye to your smallest part. Of course, you could easily wear this dress in a shift shape without anything, but I like to think it helps create a bit of a more feminine silhouette on me. And hey, I need all the help I can get!
