Perfect Christmas Red: Clinique Colour Pop Lipsticks

Every year, my lipstick game takes a step up around December to find the perfect christmas red shade. I wear red lipstick all year round – it’s my signature colour – but there’s something about the festive season which makes me search specifically for that ideal deep red shade; not too orange, not too pink, just a good festive primary colour. I think this year I’ve found the one (or three!). Here’s my opinion on the Perfect Christmas Red: Clinique Colour Pop Lipsticks.

The Clinique Colour Pop Lipsticks are fast becoming a handbag staple for me – their quality is incredible; the colour is rich, with a light sheen (not a drying matte) and the formula lasts on your lips for hours without needing a touch-up. They come in a wide variety of shades, and below, I think I have found the perfect three for that much-craved festive red lip.

My above swatches (left – right) are from shades are in Plum Pop, Passion Pop, Berry Pop. Plum Pop isn’t what I would call a traditional ‘plum’ shade – I tend to think of plums as being dark purpley reds, but this one is more on the pink side and lighter in colour than the other two., making it a lovely daytime shade. On the right, Berry Pop is, as the name alludes, a perfect berry red with darker blue tones and a deep rich colour.

However, the middle swatch – Passion Pop – is what I would be bold enough to call the PERFECT Christmas Red lipstick. Passion pop is the most beautiful bright red, with no orange undertones and slightly on the bluer side, but honestly the truest red colour I have tried in long time. I’m wearing it in this headshot picture and I love how it would compliment pretty much any skintone. I wore it last night for a night out and despite having a cocktail or two, I didn’t need to reapply this when I went to the loos and it didn’t transfer onto my cocktail glass. At £16 it is totally worth every penny and the ideal Christmas treat to yourself.
