Choosing a gift for someone can be a tricky task. Sure, a nice bath set or a bottle of bubbly will never go unappreciated, but let’s face it, that’s pretty basic and one Christmas gift set of bubble bath just blends into another in my toiletries store. What about getting the gal something she will REALLY like and remember?
When I recently discovered Flamingo Gifts, the sister company of Flamingo Candles (I’m sure you’ve heard of them), I was overwhelmed with how many gift ideas they had on their site. I honestly spent a couple of hours browsing through each item, each as quirky and different as the last, and mentally making notes of which items I would gift to which friends and family – my Grandma would LOVE the ironic cat person coasters (even if she didn’t understand the irony!) and I could see my brother loving the rubik’s cube bean bag in his uni room. To test them out, I picked three of my favourite ‘gifts for her’ from the site to have a closer look at.
The first item I was kindly sent to have a look over was this beautiful Folklore Coffee Pot Night*. It is an absolutely beautiful retro inspired team-making piece of kit. Adorned with woodland creatures, foxes and owls, it screams 1970’s (which is definitely the ‘in’ decade right now) and is going to look absolutely beautiful with my navy cups and saucers. Be gone, plain black tea pot, make way for my new, beautiful coffee pot/tea pot creation. Not only is it a practical gift that can be used for any tea or coffee, but it’s a beautiful conversation piece and will be a timeless edition to anyone’s kitchen.
I was also instantly drawn to the colourful vintage patterns of these 1960’s esque Cotton Candy Nesting Tins* by retro brand, Wu&Wu. Stupidly, I didn’t even realise more than one tin would be included, so when I opened up my parcel and opened one beautiful tin, then another inside, then another inside that, I was like a kid on Christmas day! This gift is essentially like a three in one present, as the tins can be stored together, or separately, but either way are far too pretty to be put in a kitchen cupboard! I reckon these would look beautiful and brighten up almost any room.
Another 3-in-1 gift are these Retro Bright Suitcases*, which would make a lovely home-warming gift for him, or her, or both! These are definitely not intended to be used as a real life suitcase (that would be cute, but highly impractical – gal needs at least enough room for her heels!) but as a beautiful home decoration, with some handy storage space inside! I am already imagining these complimenting a bookshelf or coffee table perfectly, and the bright colours can be used to bring out accents in your decor that might otherwise go unnoticed – plus, it saves you painting your whole room yellow or green or red!
Finding unusual gifts can be a tricky task, especially around Valentines’ Day when you might be wanting to say ‘I’m thinking about you’ to a friend or relative that isn’t necessarily your other half, but these three picks would be a lovely gift idea if you are struggling for to find a little summin’ summin’ that doesn’t break the bank, but won’t be easily forgotten either… Well done, Flamingo Gifts.
