This one comes courtesy of the wonderful Pretavoir, who can be found here. They were kind enough to send me a pair of their Ray Ban Clubmaster to try (seen here), and this is what I think of them!
Firstly, they arrived exceedingly quickly, via special next
day delivery. They arrived at around 7.30am, which is fantastic news for those
of us in full time work, who are used to parcels arriving with the Royal Mail
in the mid afternoon when at work. Aside from the excellent communication I’d received
from Sean of Pretavoir prior to the delivery, this was the first positive tick
against Pretavoir’s name!
Inside, the package was snugly wrapped and the box was the
perfect size to contain all the products without being squashed but also to
ensure they wouldn’t rattle around and potentially get damaged.
The parcel contained a lovely note from my point of contact,
Sean, an easy cleaning kit for the glasses, leaflets and information about the
model and of course, the Ray Bans themselves. The Ray Bans came wrapped in
black tissue paper which I suppose was both a practical and aesthetic choice,
but I definitely appreciated the idea of unwrapped the tissue to find what was
inside; I almost had the butterflies in my tummy reminiscient of Christmas
morning!
The Ray Bans came contained in a branded box and within
that, a sturdy leather-look glases case to keep them safe, which is both
practical and stylish and I will definitely be keeping to store the glasses in.
Inside the case were further instructions on how to care for the Ray Bans and I
felt this was a nice touch! Also inside, were the main event – the Ray Ban Clubmaster. These were also well packaged, with protective plastic around the
frames to stop scratches. Safe to say, they arrived completely undamaged and
probably in better condition than had I picked them up in a shop and carried
them home, clunking around in my handbag.
Well, what can I say about the glasses themselves? I absolutely love them. I have
never, ever felt this way about a pair of sunglasses before. Although having
been in a committed – steady yet boring – relationship with my Primark shades
for many years, I now find myself in a passionate and active love affair with
these beautiful Ray Bans. I feel so privileged to have them as part of my
collection.
I chose the Clubmaster model as I felt these would
compliment my vintage style, also injecting it with some designer chic. When
you think of a pair of Ray Bans, you seem to instantly think of the aviator
style, I know I do at least. This, along with the price tag, has previously put
me off looking further into the bran, as I categorically know the aviator shape
does not suit my face at all. However, the Clubmaster model really seems to
compliment the shape of my face.
In fact, I have a Primark rip-off version of these which is
why I knew they would suit me. In comparision, I have now completely
disregarded my Primark version. Not to mention you can choose your size! Despite
only costing £1.50 (and consequently costing £87 less than these £89.50 models
from Pretavoir), I really feel like the real deal are far better value for
money. Despite being expensive, when I wear these Ray Bans I just know they are
excellent quality – they have UV protection to protect my eyes that cheaper
versions do not offer, they are scratch resistant so I expect them to last a
long time and the detail in the decoration is outstanding. The tortoiseshell
colour of the frames is both warm and subtle, complimenting my pale skin tone
far more than a harsh dark frame would. I really am in love.
I’ve already written nearly a thousand words and to be
honest, I could carry on all day, but I know I really had better round this up.
To conclude, I have now found my Holy Grail of sunglasses. I am in love and I
don’t ever want us to break up. I am also whole-heartedly impressed with the impeccable
service I have received from Pretavoir; the communication throughout our collaboration
has been nothing but positive, quick and helpful. I could not praise them
enough and I am sure that had I been a paying customer, the service would have
been just the same, if not better!
