If you’re looking for the best first date location in Manchester, girl, I’ve gotcha covered. Last week I took my best gal pal Amy for a girls night to Roxy Ballroom Manchester and as wonderful as her company always is, we both couldn’t help but think about what a fab date night idea it would be. And after trying Roxy Golf, their food and drinks, let me tell you why…
Roxy Ballroom have a few locations in the North West, but their Manchester hideout is super central located on Deansgate, right around some of the busiest bars and shops in Manchester. We headed upstairs for some drinks and then to sign up for Roxy Golf for our first activity. It’s across several floors and is huge! The whole place is an absolute treat for the senses, full of groups of mates and dates in their 20s eating, drinking and playing on a variety of the games Roxy Ballroom have on offer, including Beer Pong, Pool and Golf!
We started off our girls night by heading to the Roxy Golf section where we were reserved for a game. Booking in was super easy and the staff were so helpful! You can also order food and drinks upstairs while you play which is a nice bonus and makes the experience extra smooth – plus who wouldn’t want a nice cold beer while you play a little crazy golf?
Roxy Golf has a course of 18 Holes, each with a twist. The majority of the floor is decorated in a super cool Carribean beach theme which I absolutely love, but our favourite section was the glow in the dark room which after a couple of drinks made crazy golf even more hilarious! I have never enjoyed crazy golf as much as I have at Roxy Ballroom, it is an absolute blast and would make a super cool ice breaker idea for a first date!
It took us around an hour to play the game of golf (although they do recommend allowing about 45 minutes – I think Amy and I probably needed a little more practice!) before we settled down for some snacks. Roxy Ballroom Manchester do a great food menu of all your favourite modern pub grubs, perfect if like Amy and I you enjoy over indulging on a Friday night! We chose a selection of items to share including Smoked Chorizo Sausages, Cracked Pepper Fries, Margerita Pizza and a Chicken Burger.
Although we totally over ordered and couldn’t quite finish it all, the food was fantastic and everything tasted delicious and fresh. Amy’s burger was fab and I really loved the pizza – simple but great and tasted home made. However, a special shout out really has to go to the Mac and Cheese Balls. Served with a jalapeno dip, these are the best things that have been in my mouth in ages and right now I don’t wanna eat anything else ever again!
To conclude, Amy and I had the best girl’s date in a long time at Roxy Ballroom Manchester. Their food, drinks and especially their crazy golf was super fun and I have since recommended it to all my friends! In fact, I would recommend it so much as a fun date night ice breaker, that I’ve actually planned in a first date there myself… Stay tuned to see how that goes!
