I’m gonna put this out there: if you’re looking for a dinner party location that’s hot as hell with food that’s on fire (literally!) then you need to get yourself down to Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant Manchester. With excellent quality food, a wide range of Asian cuisine, a huge drinks menu and, most importantly, entertainment in abundance, Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant Manchester is the ideal place for treating friends and family to a fun-filled and delicious meal… Which is exactly what I did!
Located on Liverpool Street in Manchester City Centre, Sapporo Teppanyaki is right near Castlefield and close enough to Deansgate for night-out options after dinner. For me, however, the meal was the main event. Having been to Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant Manchester before, I kinda knew what to expect – although I must say each experience is different! – but my family had no idea…
We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff and guided to our seats. There are two areas of the restaurant – one area with standard tables for Sushi – but the majority of the restaurant is laid out with square tables around two cooking stations. For me this is such a great selling point of Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant Manchester; I’ve not found anything else like this in Manchester. Before the live cooking, your starters are brought to your table from the main kitchen. We tried a variety of starters including Vegetable Tempura (my absolutely favourite and a HUGE portion!), Spring Rolls and Sapporo Beef Rolls Sushi, all of which were delicious.
Then: the main event! Our wonderful chef came into our cooking station to start creating our mains. It is one thing to see your food cooking right in front of you – pretty interesting and entertaining in itself – but the chefs at Sapporo really do pride themselves in entertainment. I won’t ruin the surprise for you if you’re yet to visit, but all I can say is – you NEED to visit! It might be a little much for a date night, but for a dinner party it is absolutely perfect and you really can’t beat it for a special occassion.
The chefs put so much care and attention not only into the food but into entertaining the dinner guests. It’s such an enjoyable experience and totally puts Sapporo miles ahead of any other Asian restaurant in Manchester in my opinion. And, although there is a huge focus on live cooking, the quality of the food and size of the portions are always top notch.
There is a huge choice of food on the menu and any dish can be cooked pretty much how you want it and with many different flavourings. We each chose something different; a combination between meat, vegetarian, rice and noodles and pretty much tried all of each other’s too. I can honestly say this is the most delicious meal I have had out in a long time and despite the absolutely huge, generous portions, I had a pretty damn good go at getting it all down me!
By the time dessert came around we shouldn’t have still been eating – but it was just too good to resist! For a bit of light relief we shared a dish of Fruit Salad, which was refreshing after our main meal and contained lovely exotic fruits and ice cream. However, it’s pretty hard to say no to a chocolate spring roll and so we shared those too; one milk chocolate, one white chocolate. If you’ve never had those before, you totally need to get to Sapporo Teppanyaki Restaurant Manchester to try them.
In fact – I think you just need to get down and try Sapporo Teppanyaki. Full stop!
