I can count the amount of single eyeshadow colours I have on one hand; they never get used as they’re just so impractical and I often end up giving them away. Instead, I reach for an eyeshadow palette every time. I don’t have loads, but the ones I do have are carefully chosen and it just seems so much easy to have a whole selection of colours in one place, WITH a mirror, WITH a brush (even if I choose not to use it!). Here are two of my current favs, the Sleek Vintage Romance and I-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes.
I used to steer away from pink and purple eyeshadow due to the common myth that the red toned colours would make my eyes look puffy and sore. In actual fact, thats to a top tip from my Makeup Artist mate and a bit of subsequent research, pinks and purples are actually highly complimentary to hazel eyes, bringing out the green side of my eyes. The Vintage Romance eyeshadow palette by Sleek is perfect for this; with a mixture of shimmery pinks, purples and some gold neutrals to make the colours wearable, it’s the perfect addition to my makeup collection. Plus, at less than a tenner for 12 colours it’s a massive bargain.
Although I’m a massive fan of the shimmery colours in the Vintage Romance palette, I fancied splashing out (£8.99 big spender over here) on some matte colours to compliment it. I went for the Sleek I-Divine eyeshadow palette; again, way more colourful than my usual chance but at such an affordable price it’s so worth trying out something more unusual from Sleek. The I-Divine palette is completely matte and as with Vintage Romance, the colours are highly pigmented and long-lasting. Incredible quality for a drugstore brand and SO worth giving a go if you’re looking to try something new.
