I’m pretty sure by now we’ve probably all heard of monthly beauty boxes – there’s enough out there! You know the ones, where you pay £15 a month and every four weeks a little box of sample goodies is sent out to you to try some new mini beauty products. It’s a fun way to try out new beauty bits and bobs without forking out for full size products before you know if you REALLY like them, but it is pretty over-done. So what’s new? My box arrived in a plain cardboard box with a white paper branded Style By Portebello overlay and two items inside; a white vintage messenger handbag and a coral orange beaded necklace. Honestly? I was a little disappointed with my items. I don’t want to bash the company at all because I think it is SUCH a lovely idea, but these just aren’t for me. The items on the website gallery (see here) look a lot more ‘me’ – sparkly little vintage handbags, beautiful art deco brooches, silk scarves, statement jewellery, all items I would be happy to pay £35 for. But then again, I guess that is the art of the monthly subscription box – you just never know what you’re going to get!
