The man cave, we’ve all heard of them, and chances are, if you have a boyfriend or a husband, he’s probably planning on incorporating one into your home at some point.
While they’re not a bad idea, after all, spending time apart is considered to be a sign of a healthy relationship, why should your boyfriend get all the fun? Yes, that’s right, it’s time to get working on your girl cave (or babe cave, depending on what you want to call it).
A place where you can get away by yourself, or with some mates, you’ll obviously need to find the space (will it be the loft, the basement, a spare room or the shed), and decide on what it’s for exactly.
But, whether it’s for reading, relaxing, watching films or drinks with the girls, there are a few essentials every girl cave will need, which you’ll find listed below.
This may sound like an odd one to talk about, but, getting the furniture right is essential. Firstly, you’ll need to ensure there’s enough space for when you want people to come and chill in the space, and secondly, it’ll need to be comfy.
Therefore, you should opt for a big sofa or one that pulls out into a bed for a little chill as your evening goes on. And if you don’t have space for many chairs, bean bags are always a comfy and fun addition.
While you may have lighting in the room anyway, why don’t you mix it up and make it a little fabulous?
Cute lamps are a great way to add mood lighting especially as an evening moves on, while pendant lighting from places like Heals, will not only provide excellent illumination but also give you a fabulous piece of decoration to wow everyone as they come in.
Speaking of decorations, the décor here will be hugely important. Now, a few delightful prints will be a lovely addition to any wall, but, what would be better is photos of you and friends. These can be dotted around in little frames or turned into a huge collage on a pin board, which could take pride of place on a central wall.
From a TV to a Bluetooth speaker, or even an Alexa, you’ll need entertainment. This will allow you to watch films and TV or listen to the radio, music or a podcast. Oh, maybe get some magazines and books too for when you’re alone.
Finally, a mini-fridge is a great addition – after all, where will you keep the wine?
And there you have it, the perfect must-haves to set up your girl cave for you and your mates.
